Gays Are 'Sinners' Senate Candidate Alan Keyes Declares
(New York City) In a blistering attack on gays the man parachuted into Illinois to battle Democrat Barack Obama for a seat in the US Senate Wednesday used his maiden speech on the campaign trail to call gays "sinners" and denounce same-sex marriage.

Speaking at a City Club of Chicago luncheon he declared that America is in "a great moral crisis," adding that he will use the campaign to bring those issues to light.

Keyes said that allowing gay marriage would destroy strong families, the foundation of society, but he stressed that he doesn't dislike gay people.

Later, responding to a question from Chicago gay activist Michael Bauer Keyes said that "there is no contradiction between defending the institution of marriage and understanding that even when you look at somebody and you know that they're in sin, you can still remember that they are children of God."

2. Get the fuck out of our state, Keyes.
Fuck this. This homophobic asshole swoops into our state and starts this hatemongering shit. And if you make statements like this, you most definitely hate gays.

7. terrya, excuse me please, but you err.
What better way to bring more supporters to the good side than to show just how brain-dead, evil and homophobic these cretins are? WE WANT to hear from this creep, the more the merrier.

The message will eventually be sent, but by the entire voting public. Look for numbers approaching 83-17 as November 2 nears.

13. Pragmatically, you're right, lil-petunia.
But as a gay man, oh, sweetie, do I get sick of this hateful crap. I get very angry when I read stuff like this.

I like those numbers you posted. I hope they come true. Pack your bags, Keyes. Back to Maryland for you (and I sympathize with the Maryland DU'ers who has this homophobic nut job living in their state)

Hey anyone have the latest on Keyes numbers? His daily distractions are becoming an amusement park, not a press release.

10. My neighbor put it this way.
Allowing Gays to marry...will help all the closted married men to come out...they will leave their wives and marry the men they have been dating.

30. Why IS it...?
that these deluded straights never consider all the closeted women and what they might do?? It's so strange to me that gay men catch all the shit for same-sex marriage--and for basically every other aspect of being homosexual. It's like Lesbians don't exist except in staright porno movies.

12. um...um...
...because when Jim and Ted can be wed, you'll no longer be satisfied in your husbands bed. The irresistable pull of the gay agenda will cause men like Alan Keyes to forsake their marriage chamber for the debauchery of a gay bar. It's so simple(ton)...

8. So, remind me again which commandment gay love breaks?
Let's see, worshipping false gods? Hmm, no, no... Maybe one of the coveting ones? Hm, no, not that... Father and mother? No, no... Hey, what about the one Jesus reportedly said overtook all the others; you know, "Love God, and love your neighbor as you do yourself." Hm, not that one either...

14. I love Alan...
No person does a better job of making people lean let than Alan Keyes, except maybe Fred Phelps. I say let Alan talk and talk and talk. Let the electorate know what's really on his mind! I'm sure he'll strike a chord with some, mostly those who live in trailer compounds surrounded by razor wire... ooops, wait though, he's black, so it might not strike a chord with that crowd. But either way, even people who do feel that maybe we (gays) shouldn't be allowed the exact same rights as everyone else, recoil at the outright hostility shown by Keyes towards gays, immigrants, family planning clinics, etc.

And just to clarify... The state of the American marriage is in a dire situation as it stands. "We" had nothing to do with it. Adultery, spousal abuse, Brittney Spears, and Carmen Electra are more of a threat to traditional marriage than any gay person could ever think of being.

16. Not sure why Keyes singles out homosexuals
The Bible says that ALL have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. So, does he advocate anarchy?

And if he truly believes that gay marriage is destroying the very foundation of society, why doesn't he hate gay people? Or is he adopting a worldly expedient to curry favor with humans, and thereby turning his back on God? I recall that John had some pretty harsh things to say about the church in Laodicea (sp?), which was neither hot nor cold, and fit only for spewing out of the mouth of God.

Come on, Alan. You know you want to declare for a theocracy, with yourself as God's Own Prophet. Go ahead. You know you want to.

21. I wonder if he's worried that
if gay marriage were allowed, that he would find the temptation to strong, and would get into one himself.

Is he married, and if so does he think gay marriage would put too much stress on his own marriage as he struggles with his own proclivities?

(Not that there's anything wrong with that.):)

Maybe gays are sinners. Maybe all of us are. Doesn't bother me. I am fine with being a sinner. I am sure the gays are to.

24. I just don't get it?!
Why is that every time a politician rolls out the "great moral crisis" concern that gays (especially the ones wanting marriage) are at the top of the list?!? Are we really that dangerous to non-gays?! What about the 'great moral crisis' of murder, spousal abuse, child abuse, and poverty? Gay marriage trumps all of these?!

This election year has been "the year of 'queer bashing and baiting!'" I for one, am fed up! As long as these assholes wish to say how dangerous gays are, I will fight! I will not allow their hatred to drown me! I will use my anger to fight them all the way! This is one queer they will not bash and get away from!

Despite my rage...

Brightest Blessings!

29. Technically
According to accepted church doctrine, we're all sinners. And all sin is equal in the eyes of God (suppposedly - I personally don't believe any of that claptrap but if someone like Keyes is going to spout off about it, he ought to have his facts straight first).

Lying is a sin. Avarice is a sin. Coveting your neighbor's wife is a sin. Pride is a sin. I can sure think of some Republican politicians who fit all those categories.

Last I knew, God was supposed to be the judge on this stuff - we're the ones who are supposed to "love thy neighbor". When we start running the country on supposed Biblical precepts (I say supposed because as far as I know, the Bible says nothing about homosexuality), we'll be no better than the Taliban or any other fundamentalist religious state.

31. Keys is following a well scripted plan.....
He is playing on the church going African-Americans
which are a majority in that community. He is counting
on dividing the A-A vote and getting the diehard repug
vote, all for the purpose of taking the shine off of
Obama's victory.
