SBVT: Sinking in Their Own Sea of Lies
Isn't it GREAT to see the Truth in print? It's likely the VRWC is getting mighty scared, considering how the folk in government can read:

SBVT: Sinking in Their Own Sea of Lies

By WILLIAM D. McTAVISH

That gurgling sound you hear is the ever-increasing number of leaks in the credibility of the so-called Swift Boat Veterans for Truth.

Yes, the Swift Boats are sinking in their own sea of lies, sunk by a fusillade of reality that exposed the bitter old Vietnam Veterans as just another Republican led and funded shill operation for the Presidential campaign of George W. Bush.

Those who know how politics really work in Washington saw SBVT for what they really were but that didn’t stop them from getting gobs of play from the right-wing ring of the media circus and the ultra-conservative bulletin boards where lonely Midwestern housewives and gullible retirees post hate-filled screeds against anything that doesn’t fit into their narrow view of the world.

SBVT’s public leader is John E. O’Neill, a longtime GOP operative but he’s been in the middle of these things before. Back in 1971, O’Neill claimed to have formed a group called Vietnam Veterans for a Just Peace, a bunch of pro-war veterans sent out to counter the antiwar activities of Vietnam Veterans Against the War, led by one John F. Kerry.

4. Thanks, 'Dart!
The airwaves and newsprint's been filled with this VRWC smear for more than a week. I've been wondering when some real journalists would get off their hind-ends to investigate the sneering smear boaters.

Gee. Hearsay doesn't make it so. Most prosecutors would know that. Maybe he also forgot that libel and slander are crimes?

From OregonLive:

Oregon prosecutor accuses Kerry in ad

Friday, August 20, 2004

NOELLE CROMBIE

A Clackamas County prosecutor and decorated Vietnam veteran who appears in an ad attacking Democratic presidential contender John F. Kerry's war record said he did not witness the events in question and is relying on the accounts of his friends who served with the senator.

The 60-second ad, which aired for seven days this month in Ohio, West Virginia and Wisconsin, features 13 Vietnam veterans, including Alfred French, 58, a senior deputy district attorney in Clackamas County.

In the ad, French says: "I served with John Kerry. . . . He is lying about his record."

The ad was paid for by Swift Boat Veterans for Truth, a group of 300 Vietnam veterans who served in Swift boats and say Kerry has lied about his war record and disgraced his fellow veterans by publicly opposing the conflict upon his return home. The group said the ad will be aired again, though it has not decided where it will be shown.

Thanks, 74DodgeDart! Let's sink the BFEE!

French, in an interview Thursday, said Kerry lied about the circumstances that led to one of his Purple Hearts and a Bronze Star. Kerry received a Bronze Star, a Silver Star and three Purple Hearts commanding a Swift boat in Vietnam.

2. I wonder
how many of those anti-Kerry Swift Boat sailor now regret getting themselves involved in this whole affair? Some have to realize that to at least one half of all Americans, they have been made to look ridiculous.

6. Interesting question. History makes a cold judge.
The smear boat liars have lent their names to Karl Rove and his neo-fascistic horde. Too bad for them that history will record their names as those willing to be used to serve the world's billionaires. Who knows? Maybe the Truth will even appear in the pages of the New York Times?

Friendly Fire: The Birth of an Anti-Kerry Ad

August 20, 2004
By KATE ZERNIKE and JIM RUTENBERG

fter weeks of taking fire over veterans' accusations that he had lied about his Vietnam service record to win medals and build a political career, Senator John Kerry shot back yesterday, calling those statements categorically false and branding the people behind them tools of the Bush campaign.

His decision to take on the group directly was a measure of how the group that calls itself Swift Boat Veterans for Truth has catapulted itself to the forefront of the presidential campaign. It has advanced its cause in a book, in a television advertisement and on cable news and talk radio shows, all in an attempt to discredit Mr. Kerry's war record, a pillar of his campaign.

How the group came into existence is a story of how veterans with longstanding anger about Mr. Kerry's antiwar statements in the early 1970's allied themselves with Texas Republicans.

SNIP...

A series of interviews and a review of documents show a web of connections to the Bush family, high-profile Texas political figures and President Bush's chief political aide, Karl Rove.

3. Beauuuuutiful
There’s an old rule in combat. Trust the guys who serve with you, fight along side with you and face death with you. Four of the five guys who served with Kerry in his Swift Boat say the SBVT guys are full of crap.

When it comes to who to believe about what happened in a long-ago war in a far-away place, I’ll trust the guys who served with John Kerry long before I’ll listen to a pack of documented liars with a proven partisan agenda.

The Swift Boat Veterans for Truth are anything but and their hypocrisy and deception are now exposed for all to see.

Watch it sink... down, down, down it goes...

7. How much money does it take to make one lie?
Must be a lot. The turd Tim Russert is quoted as saying: "Integrity is for paupers." Well, count me poor, then, for life.

Regarding the smear boat liars: Remember how one fellah recanted then recanted his recantation? Perhaps Rove and Co. threatened these vets with "Baxterization"? The BFEE is more than sufficiently low.

Oh well. The turds of the BFEE are masters of character assassination, too.

'Unfit for Command' Coauthor Jerome Corsi: Not just AntiKerry; Media Matters for America Documents Author's History of Bigoted and Inflammatory Comments

8/6/2004 5:39:00 PM

WASHINGTON, Aug. 6 /U.S. Newswire/ -- Media Matters for America (MMFA) today documented and disclosed inflammatory comments by Jerome R. Corsi, co-author of the anti-Kerry book 'Unfit for Command: Swift Boat Veterans Speak Out Against John Kerry' with Swift Boat Veterans for Truth founder John E. O'Neill. Corsi's offensive online comments reveal his active participation in discussions on FreeRepublic.com, a far-right website.

The book, published by right-wing publisher Regnery, has received wide media attention in recent days partly as the result of the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth anti-Kerry attack ad and has skyrocketed up the Amazon best-seller charts.

According to MMFA's analysis, Corsi, who received his PhD in Political Science from Harvard University in 1972 and is currently the Vice President of Development and Senior Editor of U.S. Financial Marketing Group, has posted to the FreeRepublic.com website under the pseudonym "jrlc" since 2001 and has expressed anti-Catholic and anti-Muslim rhetoric, as well as hateful and inflammatory smears against Democratic politicians.

Following are examples of some of rhetoric by "jrlc" as posted on http://www.FreeRepublic.com --

on Catholics and the Pope:

-- "Boy buggering in both Islam and Catholicism is okay with the Pope as long as it isn't reported by the liberal press."

CONTINUED RECORD OF PSYCHOTIC BEHAVIOR...
