How a Movie Can Move the Voting Public
Michael Moore has been receiving 6000 letters a day... This past week, he has been posting letters that he has received from Republicans and previous non-voters.

If anyone has been thinking about registering voters or helping the campaign in a swing state, stop thinking and make plans to do it. When Fahrenheit 9/11 comes out on video, throw a movie party for your on the fence or apathetic friends. Don't forget to have registration forms on hand.

The following is a very small sample of some letters on Mike's site proving that his movie and Bush's ineptness are working for the Democrats.

Part 1

“Thank you for the movie. Just changed my voter registration from Republican to Democrat.” –R.
------------------------------------------------------------------------

“Some say that your movie is preaching to the choir. Well, I'm definitely not part of the choir! I am very conservative (very, very), Republican (not as much now), pro-Bush (umm...not as much any more) and I LOVED ‘Fahrenheit 9/11.’ The scariest part of the movie was hearing Brittany Spears express ideas, or lack thereof, that, until recently, were mine as well. I was a little ticked with your Oscar speech last year, and I had to force myself to be open-minded during this movie. Wow! I'm so glad I did!

…I long to see us, conservative and liberal, finding common ground. I want the truth without the histrionics either right or left. I want the disenfranchised to get real help. I want peace. I want justice. I want you to document the process of a conservative like me learning to think again.

Is there a party that represents my views? I don't think so.

God bless you. Oh, and I'm not upset about the Oscars' speech anymore.” –E.D.S., Spring, Texas
------------------------------------------------------------------------

“My wife and I went see ‘Fahrenheit 911’ opening night. My wife is a registered Republican and voted for Bush in the last ‘election.’ When the movie was over, she said, ‘I know you want to talk about this, but I’m going to need some time before I can talk about it.’ Five minutes later, before we pulled out of the parking lot, she began to, not just cry, but wail. ‘I feel responsible! This is all my fault! I voted for him!’” –D.
------------------------------------------------------------------------

“As a 32-year-old recovering Republican (as a late teen I was an aide to Bush Sr. and Dan Quayle...and sadly must admit that I voted for W in the last election), I commend and encourage you in your endeavors. I was able to watch your interview on Letterman (made sure I got home in time for it along with a group of friends) and read the transcript of your interview with Matt Lauer. Your work is truly what defines patriotism and it is my hope that it turns the tide of this misguided nation.” –B.T., Los Angeles, California
------------------------------------------------------------------------

Part 2

“I just got back from seeing ‘Fahrenheit 9/11’ and I want to say thank you for making this documentary.

I've been politically apathetic all of my adult life, as it seems many people of my generation are (I'm 37), but you've got me fired up! I know if we remain apathetic we will eventually see our civil liberties slip away. As terrible as this administration is, many of us have no one to blame but ourselves as we've stood aside and let others make decisions for us. What happened in Florida was a travesty, however, if more of us had cast our vote across the nation perhaps the election would not have hinged on that state. I'm ashamed to say I've never voted for anything---EVER. It's time to repent! I'm going to try to understand what the hell is going on in this country and become informed of the issues. I WILL VOTE and have an opinion. I will fight for my rights.

I've known in my gut ‘The War On Terrorism’ and Iraq was not about what they've been billing it as, but the facts are camouflaged under so much misinformation that I've allowed myself to just stay tuned out until now. Thanks for the wake up call; I won't hit the snooze button! (sorry!) I hope the rest of my kind wake up and start fighting to because it is past time for a fu--ing REVOLUTION!” –C.E.

Part 3

“I have been a dedicated Republican for all of my life. Never really depended what they supported. I would vote because they were Republican. I saw ‘F/911 today.’ I was moved beyond words. I had to write and simply say thank you. Because of this movie, this year I will not vote Republican for the first time in my life.” –J.W.
------------------------------------------------------------------------

“I come from a family of long-time Republicans--I am embarrassed to say that I voted for the man. Thanks to you and the efforts of others, I am getting myself educated--not just voting the party line and remaining a naive American.” –S.N.
------------------------------------------------------------------------

“My wife and I just got back from seeing ‘F911.’ My 15-year-old daughter came along. I should let you know that I am a registered Republican and as I watched the movie I was ashamed, not of our troops but, of our country and myself for supporting Bush and his cronies. We own a large real estate appraisal firm and I have very flexible hours. As we sat down as a family tonight and discussed the film... my daughter asked if she could volunteer at the local Democratic party HQ and it was at this time that I told her that I am going with her. I will be changing my party affiliation in the morning and volunteer wherever needed. We need to get this man out of office and we want to do our part to help.” –G.P., Yuma, Arizona

1. It all adds-up.
Take two parts F9/11,
fourt parts fired-up base,
three parts independent voters,
and add a dash of the "HowardSternRules!" Vote.

That's a recipe for victory.

2. I guess I can forgive him for not writing me back.
It sounds like he has been busy.

3. wonderful letters
thanks for posting them. I have pre-ordered the DVD and plan to have open house viewing parties before the election for some fence-sitters and other apathetic types.

These letters and more like them reaffirm this plan.

4. You are welcome!
I think it is important that, on a grass roots level, we use the tools available to us to defeat Bush. "Fahrenheit 9/11" is a useful tool and so is the movie "Outfoxed". It wouldn't surprise me if Moveon.org organized house parties around the release of F9/11 but we certainly don't have to wait for their leadership. These letters are also a good spring board for swaying those who haven't seen the movie yet.

6. Well
I may be dreaming, but all of this sentiment can't be false...even though the "media" is claiming it will be close..I could see a Kerry landslide happening..if we aren't complacent about it beforehand.

I'm not going to be complacent about it but I seriously have the feeling that Kerry is gonna win this BIG.

8. Personal polls
I know I live in a "blue state"..but among friends and even strangers...the percentage of people who voted for Gore and have switched to Bush '04 is close to 0%. However I have met so many people that voted for * and feel duped. Some of this must translate to the "swing" states.
