Today: "'I do think Sen. Kerry's losing his cool shouldn't be an excuse for him to lash out at the president with false and baseless attacks,' White House spokesman Scott McClellan said. .."
Kerry has been on the defensive since before the election. Each week the WH (or friends) pick another theme: Kerry is __________________ (a Jane Fonda devotee, one of most liberal senators, a flip-flopper, a cowardly short-time in country vet who's dishonest about war record, now "wide-eye" and prone to "losing cool"). It's amazing to watch this man (Rove) work! He knows exactly how Kerry will react and Kerry never disappoints. Now he's got his fist stuck in another tar-baby. He's constantly on the defensive and constantly playing catch-up.
Next week the Swift Boat Fools for Froth "will accuse Kerry of demoralizing U.S. prisoners of war in Vietnam, saying Kerry's anti-war speeches when he returned from Vietnam were used by the North Vietnamese as propaganda." So . . . next week Kerry's a "traitor." (By mid-Sept. he will have fought for the Viet Cong.)
If Kerry doesn't stop listening and reacting to Rove (and surrogates) and start going on the offense, then I'm afraid it's four more W. years, and THAT prospect is as disturbing as anything I can imagine actually happening.
Kerry! Rove is playing you like a whore-house piano. No more defense! Or, only use defense to counter-punch. But focus on offense. Or all is lost.
