If McCain were serious, he would speak out again
Edited on Fri Aug-20-04 06:57 PM by Miss_Bevey
How in hell can he support these people? After what they did to him and now what they're doing to Kerry? Man, this guy's got all the aces and doesn't know how to use them. Why the hell doesn't he pay Rove back with his own coin? I swear to God, somewhere along the way, the real McCain was taken over by a pod.

1. He has sold out!
For all we know he could be planning on being VP instead of Cheney and hoping to be pres next time. I think he cares more about his own personal future than Kerry's or anyone elses. Thats why he has been playing both sides. Whatever he thinks makes him look good. I think he sold out and I don't trust him at all on our side and I don't see how the other can either.

10. McCain's good political reputation is not earned -
remember the Keating matter (savings and loan scandals). He sold out years ago. He has a pleasant demeanor and because his own party members don't like him he occasionally takes a pot shot at them that is read by democrats as some sort of positive character trait.

2. If McCain were truly
serious he wouldn't be backing * and campaigning for him. He would have left the party years ago.

3. If McCain were serious,
he would leave the Republican Party. He wouldn't have to become a Democrat. He could be an Independent.

I can't believe he would belong to a party that would trash decorated vets who server, were injured and were imprisoned. It just doesn't add up.

4. I think McCain is setting things up to run for president in 2008.
Personal ambition trumps honor apparently.

6. He'll be too old by then - He is about 68 now and at 72
he would be older than anyone in history. My guess is that he has been guaranteed VP when Cheney leaves.

5. This ad is different than the last one, and I knew McCain . . .
. . . would be silent about this one.

The difference is that the last ad was all Swiftboat guys, and this one is other POWs who were in the same position as McCain. There's no way in hell McCain is ever going to complain about this one.

In fact, I'd suggest McCain's public comments on the last ad gave it far more exposure than it ever would have gotten otherwise.

8. The guy is a politician, and a Republican
He has integrity, as far as politicians go, but he's still a GOP Senator and concerned with his own career.
