The only thing bullies understand is a good punch.
That is what Rove and Co are. Bullies. The National Review, Instapundit, The NY Post, Drudge, the whole RW echo chamber. Bullies who smear and fear.

You have to call these guys out and go nuclear on their asses. That is the only way to win this. That is what Clinton did. That is what McCain failed to do. It has nothing to do with 9-11. The press didn't go easy on Bush only after 9-11, they gave him uniformly positive coverage in 2000. They gored Gore.

Now, you have to be smart about it. You have to act sad and dignified while you eviserate them. You have to have a certain amount of tact but in the end, they have to bleed.

Right now the republican noise machine controls the media. And the republican party controls our government. The only way you win is by fighting. They won't listen to reason, they won't tell the truth, they don't have any honor or control. They are criminals. Period. (And that will be evident to the American public soon enough.) Back em up and then take them down, Kerry. They bring a knife, you bring a gun. You have to take em down the Chicago way.

I see a cosmic convergence of history here. Who is investigating Plame? A prosecutor in Chicago where anti-war activist demonstrated in 1968. The media took down Nixon by protecting sources but now it protects sources to serve Bush. The Justice Department and the media have flipped roles. But for how long? Bush dodges Vietnam and then gets us involved in another one. We have a war on terror and a disasterous war on Iraq that this administration tries to link. And we have a war hero and a anti-war activist all in the same candidate. Something is happening here, and what it is ain't exactly clear ... We seem to be caught in a strange loop of history ....

So hold on, it gets bumpier from here.

1. The public also likes to see people throwing punches

If you aren't willing to stand up for yourself, why should the American people trust you to stand up for them?

3. Great post!
I dig your philosophy. Do you have any specific ideas of what we can do locally? Do you have any recommendations for grassroots action?

5. Campaign Underground is a great source
.. and I am emailing the media, volunteering for Kerry and registering voters. My goal is to get at least 40 new voters/converts to the polls on Nov. 2nd. These are people I personally want to convince to vote for Kerry. So far I have 17. This may not seem like a big deal - but if every Democrat did this, Kerry would win in a landslide.

8. How do you know that these people will vote?
Were they complete strangers, relatives, friends, or what?

4. "in the end they have to bleed"
I agree. We have to drag their credibility out into the streets and slaughter it like a pig.

6. I know this is a silly little thing
But when Kerry came out to the song by Springsteen "No retreat, no surrender" at the DNC I was screaming at my TV, not only because I've loved this song for twenty years, but because it seemed that he got it right.

I mean he gets it. It's a fight. A real fighter that's what we all needed most to beat Bush, and dammit if we don't have him!

And you are right it is a strange loop of history. Loved the post.
