I'm a Veteran and I DON'T Support
Bush. Lying M-Fer. I think this Swift Boat b.s. is going to backfire bigtime. How dare they?

There are more than the 200 veterans in this country they called for their stupid poll. Call me, bastards! Call me!

2. My husband's a Vet
and is pissed as hell about what these thugs are doing. I MADE him...errrr <ahem>....asked sweetly ;) to put a "VETERAN FOR KERRY" bumpersticker on his car. He did. I also bought a "Veteran for Kerry" pin for him to wear when he's not at work (he can't wear political buttons at the office :( ) Vets who support Kerry MUST let people know that they DO! Tell everyone you know that you're a Veteran and YOU support Kerry! :hi:

like Bush, either. I'll see if I can find out a percentage of females.

5. Welcome, thank you for your service, and a question
I've been trying to find the names of some female soldiers who need mail to send care packages to. Would your DIL have any leads on this?

We've done this before on DU, through SoCalDem, but I'd particularly like to support the women, and haven't heard yet of any. You can pm me if you want to contact me personally.

soldiers, sailors, Marines, in Afghan,. & Iraq. I've already sent and they are SO appreciative. So much for Freepers claim Moore's a traitor.

6. Here are some statistics on females in military
In January 2003 it appears 15% of the active military were women and 6% of the veteran population were female. I'm sure it hasn't changed much since then.

9. My husband organized a vet meeting for tomorrow
in Sarasota. There's a lot of vets here who will NOT vote for Bush. My husband claims it's an insult to vets what those bastards are doing to Kerry.
We got a Vet for Kerry sticker on our car, too. Causes emotional outbursts on the road by stupid white men in pick ups.

Even though I opposed the VN war, I'll always have a soft spot in my heart for vets, particularly those who literally rescued humanity during WWII. Thanks so much for your honesty and political involvement. We need more like you who speak truth to spin.

18. I'm a Vet Too
Granted, I was too young to have gone to Vietnam, but I enlisted and served nonetheless. I served six years active and 14 reserve - nearly encountering Gulf War I. I consider * a disgrace to the uniform he once wore and consider the Smear Boat Vets shameless political shills who sold their souls for the equivalent of 30 pieces of silver. They have brought disgrace upon the military by impugning the integrity of all veterans who have been awarded medals, cheapening their value and calling into question their validity for the forseeable future.

24. That's exactly how I feel - like they are cheapening the medals of all
who earned them. It's such a disgrace.

I watched a lady on PBS tonight dissect political commercials and she said the new swift boat commercial, which hasn't even been aired on paid air time yet, but has just been released to the news organizations for free air time, takes the words of John Kerry speaking of attrocities in Viet Nam out of context. She said what he was doing was repeating what he was told by other veterans of the war. She said one needs to listen to the entire testimony. The attrocities in Viet Nam have been well documented in many cases. Are these people going to try to prove they never happened? Some people went to prison for the crimes they committed in Viet Nam. That doesn't mean everybody in Nam committed crimes and it doesn't mean nobody did. This whole thing is such a diversion.

By the way, I got out of the Army not too long before Gulf I, myself. I did nine years - not all at the same time. My last duty station was in Bad Kreuznach, West Germany.

19. It's because of people like me
I signed up as a "vet for Kerry" on the JK site, but if there was something to do besides signing up, I missed it. I wore my Veterans for Peace shirt and placed myself in the front row of the Flint rally, but the news cameras shot in the opposite direction. I am the worst vet-for-kerry spokeswoman ever.

20.  Thank you for your service Kimber Scott
I have four veteran brothers, three of them Vietnam era vets. This on top of what they did to McCain and Cleland, should take the military vote away from them for a long time. Not to mention all the other benefits they're cutting for vets.

And if you haven't already seen this commentary, I recommend it. It's a good read.

Commentary: The Republican War Against Vietnam Veterans
First John McCain, then Max Cleland, now John Kerry: the Republican attack machine says Vietnam veterans are crazy and are frauds.

On edit: From the article, I love this part!

"As the Chickenhawks had others fight the Vietnam War, a war they supported with real gung-ho intensity, so today they have Vietnam veterans fight their political war here. Some men just love exploiting other men."

30. My Dad will be 85 in Nov. and is a WWII vet
and I bought him a Veteran for Kerry Button at the Max Cleland Rally we went to together on Wednesday. He put it on immediately.

There were several things I thought were particularly touching at the rally. 1) The number of WWII vets at the rally some in wheelchairs.

2) The Vietnam vet in a wheel chair getting a hug from Senator Cleland

3) The young man who looked about 15 (guess I'm getting old) wearing a Veteran for Kerry button on his tshirt which told where he had served.

support any right wing asshole for ANYTHING! EVER! I would vote for a steaming pile of horseshit before I would EVER vote for a Republican. Those people are lower than whale shit and have no regard for the lives of the military whether it be active duty folks or us vets. sorry for my exxagerated, overwraught hysteria in this post but I am SICK of those assholes and their lies. If i ever encountered one of those swiftboat vets for truth pieces of shit ..grrr...nevermind.

He has to make it clear he was not smearing American soldiers when he talked about routine atrocities. I think he went over the line, and he has to reel himself in.

I was in the Army under Reagan, and didn't vote for him either! BUSH is destroying this country. By the time he's through with it, there'll be nothing left, so why did I serve? Not for this!
Here's my shoulder patch, I always liked it, even though I hated the CAV...
