How Do Bush & Thugs get away with this?
Over the last month I've read Franken's book, Richard Clarke's book, various articles that other dems have posted, watched Outfoxed, F 9/11, Uncovered: War in Iraq and The 2000 Election, plus read stuff that everyone's posted.

I've just got one question.

How in the blue blazes do these assholes (Bush & cronies) get away with this shit?

I don't get it. Maybe I'm just not seeing it or something. I'll admit it took me a little while to get out from believing everything MSNBC and CNN told me. I've learned not to take it all at just face value anymore.

I have no doubt about this crap they're pulling on the American people, it just amazes me that they've gotten away with so much.

2. And FEAR
Don't you remember all the "we may have to give up a little bit to be safe" crap being thrown around?

5. Fear & Media
That makes sense. They did find the perfect storm so to speak in order to get what they wanted.

I told my mother the other day that I consider the Bush administration to be dangerous, reckless and arrogant. For a little while I wondered if I was acting like one of those right wingnut conspiracy freaks, but after rereading and rewatching, I know I'm not. I have no doubt.

I guess with the right opportunity they took complete advantage and so many went along with it. I take partial responsibility because I said nothing because I was too damn scared of being labeled unpatriotic.

In the post 9/11 world fear is what bred so much of the silence which allowed this fascist regime to take us to the brink of losing our democracy. I've regretted keeping my silence as I have and I wish I would have spoken up sooner. I know my single voice wouldn't have made a difference, but the best I can do is to no longer remain silent.

10. I've never seen so much open arrogance in all my life -
never. Sometimes, I still can't believe it. I've watched them do things right under our noses knowing full well that they didn't have to worry about it b/c the majority of the people were "under control".

My fear was not so much being labeled "unpatriotic" but was a more irrational fear of actually being ostracized or even getting into legal trouble. The story in F-911 about the little old man and his group who were investigated for terrorism is easy for me to believe because I imagined things just like that. I was at a high school ball game once and stepped outside to smoke. The cheer coach's husband was out there too and we began talking. We actually whispered when we talked about our oppositon to * and his (at that time) proposed war. We were afraid of being heard by the wrong person. That is the exact moment that it really hit me that things had gone terribly wrong in our country.

I never attended a protest because they were all too far away. But, if I could go back and do it over again now, I would drive 350 miles just to go to one. If that idiot somehow gets another four years, I will be marching in the streets at every single possible opportunity.

4. CNN: Conservative News Network
It helped when at least CNN maintained some veneer of objectivity. Now that it is FoxLight it is absurd.
I have to believe that Shrub and his thugs have so cowed these people (no pun intended, Candy) that they simply are unable to see through bullshit. They don't know what questions to ask to cut through the mud and get to the true bottom line.
Watching their nonstop SwiftPunk coverage today was sickening - shallow, one-sided, ridiculous.
Democrats have to learn how to intimidate TV news people the way Repukes do. Maybe if we cross-wire their blow dryers ...

7. Yup
The media could put an end to these lies but instead they are actively spreading them. The Corporations want Bush to stay because he will cut the executives taxes and reduce regulations & they don't care what the collateral cost is so long as they increase their profits.

12. That is true -
which is why I don't waste my time watching them or listening to them any more - lying ass self serving pieces of dog shit. All I've seen in the media the last few days is bullshit about Kerry's military record - where's the coverage on Bush, you maggots? Fucking chicken shit ass deserter - and they fucking know it. Yeah, I know I'm ranting, I'm fucking fed up with this shit. Kerry put his ass on the line for this country - what the fuck did Bush do? Besides go AWOL from his cushy National Guard outfit. And to any repuke lurkers out there, blow me mudder fukkers.

15. Because we don't fight back
We don't call them monarchists who systematically marginalize the non-wealthy classes. We don't call them greedy looters hell-bent on world domination. We don't call them on their lies. We don't use simplistic repetition and ridicule. We don't make it personal and question their ethics, morals, truthfulness and general value as organisms.

We are wrong for this, and we repeatedly pay for it.

The late, grating Lee Atwater said that the best way for the Democrats to fight a presidential campaign is to use class warfare. He was specifically talking about the presidency, and he was correct.

16. I would tend to agree with you -
but unfortunately, there are a lot of dumb fuck working class people out there, that buy into all the simple minded bullshit the Republicans put out. I have a son in law who doesn't have a pot to piss in or a window to throw it out of, but he loves the Bushies. All of their b.s. rhetoric about guns, gays, and abortion. It's truly sad that so much of the base support for the sorry ass Republicans, comes from the very people they hurt the worst.

Nephews that don't have two nickles to rub together, but love the Repugs. They have zero reasoning ability beyond the latest Repug talking point.

Needless to say, they are not in my will.
