Smear Boat Vet: "I was not a witness to these events but my friends were"
Honest!

Oregon prosecutor accuses Kerry in ad

Friday, August 20, 2004
NOELLE CROMBIE

A Clackamas County prosecutor and decorated Vietnam veteran who appears in an ad attacking Democratic presidential contender John F. Kerry's war record said he did not witness the events in question and is relying on the accounts of his friends who served with the senator.

snip

In the ad, French says: "I served with John Kerry. . . . He is lying about his record."

snip

French said he is relying on the accounts of three other veterans who were friends of his at the time. A fourth veteran with whom French was acquainted corroborated their accounts.

"I was not a witness to these events but my friends were," said French, who was awarded two Bronze Stars during the war. "I believe these people. These are people I served with."

1. What is with these guys?
But at least they know of someone who served with Kerry in Viet Nam. No one has surfaced who knew of anyone who served with Shrub in Alabama....

11. How about the top ten lies - I'm sure there are at least 10.
1. "John Kerry wrote up the after action report for his own Bronze Star."

Lie - Jim Rassmann put Kerry in that day for a Silver Star fro saving Rassman's life AND Robert Lambert filed the after action report used in the citations.

2. "There was no enemy fire as it states on Kerry's citation for the Bronze Star."

Lie - Jim Rassmann says there was enemy fire, Larry Thurlow's citation says there was enemy fire, Robert Lambert's citation says there was enemy fire, John Kerry's citation says there was enemy fire, the other members of Kerry's crew say there was enemy fire.

ETC., ETC., ETC., I mean how many lies are the limit?

4. It's called hearsay and is inadmissible in a court of law
but apparently for this prosecutor it is OK if you are trying to the destroy the reputation of a presidential candidate.

7. I don't think that the FEC has much actual power
I don't think that the FEC has any power to shut down ads that make false statements. If that were the case, none of Bush's ads would be allowed on the air.

9. not to mention slander and libel -- way to be an officer of the court --
total mockery and disgrace of ANY sense of justice ... I hope this prosecutor, along with others who got it coming will have to face the music for these fraudulent comments ... Mike Barnacle was so right when he called the not-so-swift ads: "political pornography"

8. It's all hearsay and rumor
which is why O'Neill's continual assertions that there are 240 of them means nothing -- except that 240 idiots choose to believe rumors.

10. Congratulations guys, you're becoming nationally known liars.
Quite a feat in this country. Wait until they start turning the guns on each other like a bad episode of the Three Stooges,
