Discovered a photograph of * with another award
Edited on Sat Aug-21-04 10:45 AM by Walt Starr

So now we have a rack that looks like this for Bush:

BBBBBBBBBBBBB

Vs. this look at Kerry's rack:

Kerry' s

Please note, the only awards I have documented evidence of Bush deserving are the two Texas Air National Guard medals from his ANG22. We do not know if Bush is wearing the Air Force Outstanding Unit Award and Air Force Small Arms Expert Marksmanship Ribbon legitimately because he won't release his DD214.

Maybe there's a Texas Air National Guardsman for Truth who can confirm, "George Bush is lying about his Small Arms Expert Marksmanship Ribbon. I was there, he missed fifty percent of his shots and did not qualify with his pistol."

1. There should be an oak leaf cluster on the purple heart and a V on the
Bronze Star. Also he had several Unit citations including a Presidential Unit Citation which would be worn on his right chest. How did you obtain these ribbons and do the placement? I have been unable to find a site which would let me do what you did here.

5. Negative
A bronze OLC is for a subsequent award. So I have 4 AF Achievement Medals which means my uniform has the original ribbon and 3 OLCs. I have 7 unit citations which means I have the original ribbon, a silver OLC and a bronze OLC.

Here's the Reg: SECNAV Instruction 1650.1G

c. Oak-Leaf Cluster. The oak-leaf cluster is worn
on the service and suspension ribbon of all Defense, Army
and Air Force decorations and the Joint Meritorious Unit
Award. The larger size (13/32 inch) is worn on the
suspension ribbon of the medal and the smaller size (5/16
inch) on the service ribbon or ribbon bar. The bronze oakleaf
cluster is used for the 2nd through 5th, 7th through
10th, and so forth. A silver oak-leaf cluster is used for
the 6th, 11th and so forth, entitlement or award, or in
lieu of five bronze oak-leaf clusters.

6. Actually, two gold stars on the PH
Edited on Sat Aug-21-04 11:44 AM by Walt Starr
Gold stars are used on the PH instead of oak leaf clusters.

Also, besides the Combat "V" device on the Bronze Star, he should have four bronze star devices on the Vietnam Service Medal, although the photographs of Kerry wearing the ribbons show only two. four are listed on his DD215 (a correction to the DD214).

Finally, the Naval unit commendations Kerry received are worn above the left pocket. Presidential Unit Citations awarded to the Army and Marine Corps are worn above the right pocket.

7. Thankyou for clarifying things
I was in the Army and things are definitely different between the two branches of service.

8. Thanks!
Didn't realize they used the star instead of the OLC. Star looks better anyway. (Or is it a Starr?)

4. What Does Each Ribbon Mean
Isn't there a basic "good conduct" ribbon that you get just for showing up and not causing any trouble? Did Bush* get one of those?

P.S. Note Bush's* photo... even THEN he couldn't control his smirk.

11. It's soooo obvious to me why they are attacking Kerry's valor awards
It's because Dubya has almost nothing to show for his service other than awards basically for showing up, and based upon the record he doesn't even deserve those!
