The Worm Has Turned On The Swift Boat Vermin...
As the son of a decorated WW2 veteran who gets all teary eyed when he sees the old vets collecting money in front of supermarkets for the VFW it pains me to call veterans vermin but what they have done to Kerry is unforgiveable....

Anyway I see the media is now exposing the lies and inconsistencies of the Swift Boats Vets For Bush as well as their ties to the GOP...

I still don't know how all this will play out...

1. At least some of these guys are vermin.
Take it from a Worm. ;) A liar is a liar, and a fraud is a fraud, no matter how brave he may have been in battle once. Vets deserve the free health care and step up to education (etc.) that they were promised in return for their service. They don't deserve carte blanche for bad behavior.

2. These Folks, Sir, Have Scored An 'Own Goal'
Of titanic proportion.

A sort of poitical Pearl Harbor, with the criminals of the '00 Coup in the role of Tojo and his minions: they have roused a sleeping giant, and filled him with a terrible resolve.

"Just because their dead don't mean they stopped being Democrats!"

"LET'S GO GET THOSE BUSH BASTARDS!"

5. They Hate Kerry For What He Did After The War
While I believe this hate is misplaced it has colored their views of how heroically he performed in battle...

9. That Is So, Sir
Unfortunately for them, what young Lt. Kerry testified to is true, and accepted as true by the greatest proportion of the populace.

That fact is that atrocity is the essence of guerilla war, and on both sides....

3. And there are more eyewitnesses coming forward in defense of Kerry
and there is the SwiftVets flyer in one of the Bush campaign offices in Florida, which shows that they are all in the "same boat" ...

4. Don't bet on it...when the cable news shows...
...spend entire hours interviewing the people who are refuting these allegations, and who were there with Kerry, and examining every angle of the factual innacuracies, then the worm will have turned. Anything less, the damage is done and all they are doing is stopping the bleeding.

10. on the up side
The little Hardball drama seems to have made this almost a personal issue between (so-called) journalists. I imagine Chris Matthews is going to tear the SBVs a new one on Monday.

24. Ever notice Rush...

...never "does" interviews. With, let's say, a Matthews, Russert, Rather?

He doesn't because he'd be shown for the fraudulent, lying, pathetic loser that he is. And Rush can't have that. He's also a whining coward. He and Ms. Malkin have a lot in common.

11. Fortunately Not Many Follow Cable Shows Like We Do
The wingnuts and us hardcore dems. The numbers on cable watchers are suprisingly small. How it gets played on the big networks is another matter. They are less apt to slice and dice like the cable shows we hate/love.

7. I can't blame them, I blame Rove
Some people were really twisted by the morals of the time before and during the Vietnam war. You're seeing what the legacy of blind patriotism from the Fifties has done to us. These vets are being used in the worse ways by rethuglicans.

18. The Guilt Of The General, Sir, Does Not Absolve The Sergeant
These men are vicious liars, low enough in character to walk upright beneath a snake's belly. In a very real sense, they are traitors to all that is good in our country.

8.  just saw CNN's report
...about these vets and started screaming at the television, LOL (even though I swore I'd never watch them again). Even though Bill Schneider's report seemed fair - he accurately reported what the NYT article said, and even played Kerry's entire point about the atrocities, without actually saying "it was dishonest of the makers of that ad to leave out the fact that Kerry was quoting 150 other Vietnam vets who had gathered in Detroit," thereby leaving it up to the audience to make that point in their own minds. :eyes:

Yet the other woman reporting from Crawford TX reminded the viewers that the Bush administration wants to get rid of all the ads "like this," pointing out that anti-Bush ads were included - as if the ad showing General McPeak endorsing Kerry was somehow EQUAL to the Swiftboat ads. BULLSHIT! They are NOT equal, and it's disingenuous to even suggest such a thing! Ooooooo, I got furious. That's a slant that went unchallenged.

Of COURSE Bush wants to get rid of ALL the ads... so that Kerry and any other future Democrat has to really on corporate or little-guy funding, leaving us helplessly behind in the fundraising dept again. That's the goal - get rid of MoveOn.org because they are effective and they even the playing field, something the Republicans really really hate.

I'm like Mike Malloy, every day I wind up, at some point, saying, "have I said today how much I hate these people?"

I hate these people.

12. Me either ?
I know how I blelieve it should play out ,by this being the cherry that tops the cake of all the lies team bush is spreading to win this election. I just am so discusted with people that are so tied to their party that when something is so blantantly wrong ,they still try to defend it. I have a friend that is a bush supporter, and I tell him all the time I just cant believe he honestly thinks this guy is doing a bang up job. He has been a miserable failure in every aspect of running this country. If he does get elected ,I will hang my head in shame ,that our country could go from a highly intelligent leader,President Clinton ,to such a back ass,low intellect non leader ! This should not be happening at this time in our history, hopefullly I will be able to watch the inaguration of a President Kerry, and see if bush can behave like a man should even when he looses. He lost the last time and instead of doing the right thing ,decided to cheat and lie his way into office. I doubt this horse will change its colors ! I registered to vote earlier then I ever have before, Iam ready for this election , bring it on ! Change cant come soon enough !

15. Honor like toilet paper
The SwiftLiars have traded on the honor they earned with their wartime sacrifices to make a cheap political point.

I, too, am the son of a decorated WW2 vet, who was a lifer, served in Korea as well as in WW2, in the Navy AND the Army, and eventually earned several honors "just doin' my job". He died in 1996, but every time one of those kinds of vets came forward and left a trail of slime, he'd seethe inside. I'm sure he was aware of O'Neill -- the protests of the 1960s grieved him, but it was Nixon's thugs that really got his goat. And he was fairly conservative.

It's not just Kerry they've slimed. It's also John McCain and Max Cleland. And I'm sure they've done the same to other veterans in every party.

We should listen to James Carville -- he was a Marine, y'know. When Marines talk about fighting, I listen to them, and James has never steered us wrong on the fine art of kicking ass. He says that when bad guys slime good guys, the good guys have to make the bad guys pay. And so we should. This is as good a time as any.

A large debt -- a debt of honor -- is owed. Time to collect.

16. This is another diversion set up by Carl Rove to keep us from the real
issues.
Think about it. The country is debating the validity of a man's service to his country, where he went into combat, saved a mans life, when the group pushing the rhetoric can't even prove he showed up for National Guard duty.
LET'S GET REAL PEOPLE!
The real issues in this election are:
the economy
employment
the environment
education
and the TRUTH!
Write all the media outlets you can and tell them to start talking real issues not drama stories.
The future of our Democracy is at stake here.

I have verified the Air Force Outstanding Unit Award and Air Force Small Arms Expert Marksmanship ribbon only via a photograph of George W. Bush. Other Air Force awards can only be verified if Bush releases his DD214. The two Texas Air National Guard Medals were verified via Bush's ANG22.
