Look at all the fine people on this board who can write! I'm constantly amazed by the level of skill displayed on these boards, and we're all generating this stuff for free.

The right wing pays people who write well. They hire them to spew press releases from all those Scaife-funded right wing stink tanks, to write Astroturf letters to newspapers and to generate talking points for yappers in the media. The lucky ones get to go on to historical revisionist books. Once they've got the golden handcuffs on these folks, they'll spew whatever they're told to spew, and some of them will come to believe it.

As for Malkin, she strikes me as somebody who got sucked into one of Scaife's college "conservative student organizations." Once she found out they were actively recruiting people for well paid spew jobs, her life was set. She has no reason to examine any of this rubbish from the other side, e.g. from the side of the Americans with Japanese surnames who were herded into concentration camps while their property was stolen from them. They tell her what they want, she does a little sloppy research, and another book is born.

These people are successful at what they do because a few unimaginably rich men are paying them to be successful at what they do. If they ever had to compete head to head with an honest researcher, they would soon be relegated to writing fluff pieces on the Junior League luncheons in the local newspaper.

1. Wouldn't answer CM's clear question - Do YOU believe Kerry injured himself ON PURPOSE? She kept wanting to talk about what someone said in the book, which as MSNBC pointed out, says no such thing.

2. That no one called her an idiot (I guess she just felt like one). Oberman was great on this, by the way. He said he had started to draft an apology, but couldn't find in the transcript where he used the word "idiot."

Then they ran the promo for Monday's Hardball, which will be about the Swift boat liars. Chris is still strong on this.
