Did anyone see Anderson Cooper tonight?
A friend of mine told me she was watching Anderson Cooper and she saw a clip of Obama saying that he would not be pulling troops out of Iraq within 16 months. She also said there was some talk about the fact that everybody was turning Obama down for VP. Now she has a tendency to exaggerate and embellish. I just don't believe he said that. I just saw him on Countdown say that he would be pulling the troops out of Iraq. Anyone see the show and can elaborate?

4. That's bull crap.
First off Obama was in Georgia today and he reaffirmed that he would be pulling troops out of Iraq in a 16 month plan. Heidi-- on the thread posted the transcript as it happened live on the thread and I watched it.

Unfortunately I can't find the video on his statement in Georgia but he stated it and it's in the transcripts written by Heidi, as I mentioned.

As for Veep, that's blatantly untrue. I guess the predicted talking point is in effect already. So far only Webb has said he doesn't want to be on the shortlist because apparently he didn't want to have a background check. So I'd like to know who everyone is? Obama has not made any official declarations and Webb might be the only one who was given a tentative invitation on the shortlist. Remember background checks are being done and Obama agrees with basically an open policy on your income. Some people don't want to do it.

Predicted talking point, "Why can't Obama find someone willing to be his VP running mate?"

6. They also did a hit job on Access Hollywood of all things
Jealous because they scored the exclusive with the Obama kids. CNN hit them for not doing a hard-hitting interview. Was AH supposed to ask the girls about FISA or Iraq?

8. Gergen and Bernstein kind of implied that the media was pushing the "flip flop" narrative, esp with
Iraq, and Gloria Borger got a bit huffy and said "It's NOT just the media...because...when Obama decides not to take public financing!" blah blah blah. And Bernstein said that McCain needs to stop making stupid jokes about Iranians getting killed, because it reminds people that he runs his mouth.

9. The corp media is actually covering that!
Holy crap! I thought that would get buried like everything else.

11. I don't know if they actually covered the "joke" if you're referring to that
I only turned it on for a minute, I think it's probably more likely that Berstein just snuck that comment in at the end of the segment, haha. But I was happy about the mention anyways.

10. You need to get a new friend

Cooper tried to build up the flip flop thing but then played a clip of Obama stating emphatically that he is going to be getting out the troops and that his position is exactly the same as it was before.

Even the pundits on afterwards tried to build up the flip flop until Gergen got on and said that there has been no change and everything Obama said is exactly consistent.

12. You sound so concerned! Now, MY friend told me that Obama is going to stop by her house for dinner.
Like you, I really, really want to believe "my friend"!
