How can they defend that vote? What are they? Lemmings? Shouldn't they know what they are voting for? Of course, they voted for the Iraqi War Resolution without reading it also. This is a disgrace.

Why do we send such characters to the US Senate? I have seen City Councilmen with more integrity and sense of responsibility. They are not leaders, that is for certain. They are followers. They should be in another job - not one that requires guarding our Constitution.

1. Probably not all 70 of them will vote for it
There are 70 Senators who have had no briefings on the wiretapping program. I suspect quite a few of them will vote against it. But probably not enough. :(

2. I suppose it will get about 70 votes ...
in passing. A few Democrats vote against it and it looks like there was some legitimate opposition to it, but in reality, there was no opposition.

3. As John Conyers drawled in "Fahrenheit 911", not many of the legislators
read the bills before they vote on them.

4. IWould be Surprised if Their Staffers Didn't Read It
That is not as good, of course. The bill is perfectly readable. It is not a gigantic unreadable Patriot Act.

I do get the sense that a lot of commentators haven't read it, and are relying on secondhand reports. A lot of the criticism seems less about the lack protections than about the desire for certain outcomes like the expectations that the current lawsuits will be all stop and no evidentiary findings will be made.

I'm still trying to understand the bill, and very few of the politicians or commentators are clarifying it at all.

5. Your comment is exactly what I've seen in regards to the FISA on this board.
A lot of posters use second hand ideas without forming their own view on the topic before or even after.
