Afterall John O'Neill has spent years trying to damage Kerry's reputation and if it were the 18th or early 19th century I'd bet Kerry would challenge him to a duel. I have no doubt either who would come out ahead there too.

2. Just an observation
and since I refuse to watch O'Really I didn't know he advocated shoot outs.

3. The point being
that this type of slimey political mudslinging was much more rare back when doing it could cost you your life.

Nowadays all it does is cost you credibility. And since the swiftboat veterans for "truth" never had any to begin with there is little to dissuade them.

4. They were great at mudslinging in the 18th/19th C
Easily as bad as today and really much worse. Political cartoons and broadsides were full of lies and diatribes. This is just par for the course.
