1. I guess hearing the truth just hurts immensely
Edited on Sat Aug-21-04 04:53 PM by tandot
What is the SwiftVets whole name? Swift boat Veterans for Truth???

Most Republicans don't know what it means to speak the truth.

Republicans: Natural born liars.

14. Swift Boat Veterans For Bush
- get with the new Kerry meme... we're not letting them claim to have the truth and we're making sure they're linked to Bush...

Here's where the Kerry campaign uses the phrase "Swift Boat Veterans For Bush", and I think we should all follow their lead.

19. I totally agree. Remember how they linked Saddam to 9/11 before they
invaded Iraq? They made sure to mention Iraq and 9/11 or Saddam and 9/11 in the same sentence...over and over again. It stuck to people's mind. Even now many people still believe that Saddam was somehow involved in he 9/11 attacks.

We have to do the same with the SwiftVets' ads. As you said "Swift Boat Veterans for Bush" or "Rove designed the SwiftVets smear campaign" or "major Bush supporter and family friend from Texas finances the SwiftVets" ...and there are so many other connections between Bush and the SwiftVets that could be mentioned.

And how about the Bush-Cheney campaign office in Florida who had those flyers praising the SwiftVets and showed their support?

They don't have anything to run on. As Bush said a few weeks ago: "Results matter"...I completely agree: All Bush can run on are negative accomplishments. So, because of their lack of accomplishments, they are trying to attack a Vietnam veteran. How utterly disgusting and disgraceful.

20. Have you looked at the Bush campaign web site? It's All KERRRY!
Almost nothing about Bush. So they need the Swiftboat Veterans for Bush people to help them create a fog around Kerry that they can use to manipulate the memes later on.

We need to create clarity and cut through the fog, which is why I think it's important to generate this Google bomb meme....

Swiftboat Veterans for Bush

6. On Google
http://www.nytimes.com/2004/08/22/politics/campaign/22swift.html

A Vietnam veteran who had served with Senator John Kerry in a Swift boat group broke a 35-year silence this weekend to back Mr. Kerry's version of events from their mission together, and to chastise veterans critical of the senator as having "splashed doubt on all of us."

The veteran, William B. Rood, is now an editor at The Chicago Tribune, which ran a first-person article in which he recounted the day on its Web site yesterday. His account added to a growing debate over the most serious claims from the group, Swift Boat Veterans for Truth. And it ensured that questions swirling around the group, the veracity of its claims and some of its prominent backers' connections to the White House would dominate the campaign for yet another day.
(snip)

The Trib (where this Swift Boat vet works) is a Replonk-leaning paper too IIRC, so this is good news.

8. How sweet it is!

Please thank Mr. Rood. I don't know his political affiliation, most of the Trib are conservative, but he is an honest man.

Don't forget the LTTE's either!

11. Now They're Leaving It UP! LOL! Freeps Say:
Natch, that Rood "works for a liberal paper" and is a liar and it's just horrible how they are "smearing" the Swifty Liars.

Huh? I guess when people come out and tell politically motivated lies that are totally unsupported by the documentation and by the closest eye witnesses, you are not allowed to scrutinize THEM?

What a bunch of shit! If they wanna dish it out, they should be able to take it...

21. Right town, wrong paper
Nofacts works for the Sun-Times. But the trib is quite conservative, I don't think they have EVER endorsed a dem for prez, or any major statewide office either.
