Will Al Gore be in a Kerry Cabinet?
I know some people here don't respect and-or like him. But
he is a hero to me. The concession speech he made after the Supreme Court screwed him made me literally cry.

I would love to see him do something. Maybe we should have Al negotaite to bring our allies into Iraq so we can bring some of our troops home.

p.s.-I even forgive him for Joe Lieberman. I thought it was a great idea at the time too. Although I never uttered the lamest phrase ever..."Joe-Mentum!"

1. How about director of the EPA?

If he would take it, Al Gore would be perfect.

12. I'd love to see Robert Kennedy Jr.
ANYWHERE in a Kerry administration. I'd also like to see Al Gore there. I don't care where.

2. I don't know. I kinda doubt it.
I got the impression when I watched his recent speeches, that he is quite happy and relaxed with his life now. I don't think he wants to get back into that insane place named DC.

I could be wrong, but it just looked that way to me.

3. Although I deeply respect and admire him, I seriously doubt it.
I don't think Kerry will want to 'compete' with either Gore or Clinton, at least not intitally; down the road a year or two, he might well find some place where each could best bring to bear their peculiar talents.

:)

6. Hey, we're talking about a Kerry presidency here!
Why should the President of the United States (Kerry) feel he needs to "'compete' with either Gore or Clinton'" then or ever? Sheeeit, mon, he'd be PRESIDENT - he can hire and fire Gore and Clinton as he pleases.

Gore would be perfect (and I suspect quite happy) as head of the EPA.
And Clinton would be happy doing anything in Washington again, so long as he has a periodic podium to speak from (and since he's such a charasmatic speaker, he should be given lots of podiums). Let Kerry run the nation. Let Gore and Clinton contribute as much as they can.

8. Hm..Probably not
I agree with the first poster that he'd be a great EPA director (or, rather, "Secretary of the Environment" or "Sec. of Environmental Protection" if the EPA is upgraded to a complete cabinet-level federal "Department of the Environment").

Still, he seems contented. And he's also working on his new TV network as a business venture.

Plus, I don't think he and Kerry are particularly close. Of course, that's not really what's usually necessary in a cabinet, so I don't know. I figure Kerry'll probably some other people, probably not nearly so prominent.

9. hell, i want the man as sect. of energy
energy is what we are fighting wars for right now. we have to develop our own sources.

Al Gore would be the best man to help impliment Kerry's energy policies.

14. He'd be horrible.
He'd have the right ideas, but nobody would take him seriously.

I'd push the national security link to energy policy, as well as a "Manhattan Project aura", by appointing someone like Wes Clark (who actually used to run a small energy technology company), Shalikashvili, or McPeak.

15. Yes.
A Manhattan Project for energy is absolutely necessary if we want America to retain any shred of its current lifestyle. Oil will not always be cheap or plentiful. Cheap, portable energy is linked to so many economic issues. Cheap, portable energy is spider-webbed throughout our foreign policies everywhere.

Aside from Supreme Court appointees (which is really a catch-all issue if you think about it), energy policy is my #1 issue.

16. How About Creating a new Cabinet Position -
Edited on Sat Aug-21-04 08:25 PM by demwing2
Secretary Of Communications?

Oversees all issues concerning the radio and print media, television, cable technologies, Internet technologies, and the office of the Press Secretary.

Give that to Gore. After all, he invented the Internet, right?

ON EDIT: Serioulsy, the more I think of this, the better I like it. Gore knows first hand the danger of a media run amok, Gore has been pushing for liberal voices in the media, and he's even a former journalist.
