McCain: "I don’t e-mail, I’ve never felt the particular need to e-mail,”
"As he answered questions, sipping a cup of coffee with his tie tight around his neck, his aides stared down at their BlackBerries.

As they tapped, Mr. McCain said he did not use a BlackBerry, though he regularly reads messages on those of his aides. “I don’t e-mail, I’ve never felt the particular need to e-mail,” Mr. McCain said."

6. Email ? Hell he cant even use a computer
I guess if he were to get into office we would go back to using the telegraph for communications. I cant imagine honestly how it would affect communications in the white house. Would he have an aide ever present with him to handle his communication needs?

8. Is this guy dead yet?
HOW can he even be in this thing?
HOW can ANYONE even THINK that voting for him is a good idea?
I get 20 or 30 e-mails an hour at work, and at least three or four of them are actually important enough to act on.
Is this freakin' guy PREHISTORIC or what?

Vote for John McCain!
Party like it's 1939!

19. leave no child behind = leave 'em dumb and their parents dumber
The US rates second to last in a UN study of children's happiness and well-being. The UK is last. Visit that country, and the trend is obvious.

25. Here's the NPR report of the UNICEF report
http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=7407245

I had printed it out in 2007. I'm sure you can still find it on the web. It was a first of its kind study.

I spent a month in the UK last summer, and I spent a month there in 1984. Things have changed a great deal. The kids and their families in the villages I visited (while camping) seemed unhealthy, poor, and uneducated.

42. that's it, exactly
He said he doesn't feel the "need" to e-mail. Of course not--he has an aide (at our expense) at his shoulder every step of the way. He tells the aide to call so & so. That's how big shots did it in the old days and I know because I saw it on The Dick Van Dyke show circa 1961.

Someone like McCain would approach the computer as an annoyance, not as a means of getting something done in a more efficient or cost-effective way.

There should be a basic skills test for president. It would include things like:

--locating a bar code and, on a large or heavy product, being able to show it to the cashier
from a shopping cart

--handing a dog to another person without dropping it

and so on.

23. If McCain refuses to be computer literate at this point, he clearly is not ready to be President
Understanding the Internet and even just being able to use a computer is a given as a skill that a President in the 21st century needs to have.

Either he's a halfwit or he's too impatient to understand the basics in life in these times... hardly the quality that a President should not have.

26. Honestly, this doesn't really matter that much.
In the end its about judgement, instincts, character, etc..

Its great that Barack is in touch with technology, but not essential. There are always assistants who can do these things for the President.

it also shows a lack of interest in his children since children regularly email their parents. Espicially say if they are in the Military or in Iraq.
