Mississippi GOP website promotes swiftboat book...
http://madisongop.org/

Don't know...Maybe this is perfectly legal, but it sure looks like collusion to me. What do you think?

6. Good catch
Made me go look at some Okla. counties (after posting that I had found nothing on the okla. state site) Sure enough, I found a link on one of the county sites.

3. There's a thread around here somewhere in which
people are looking for this kind of stuff.

And no, it's probly not legal.

7. I don't think a link
to Amazon pushing a book that attacks an opponent is indicative of collusion. What if a Democratic Party site has a weblink to Richard Clarke's book, or Blumenthal's? Really, all this getting worked up over who might have a weblink just makes Democrats look silly. The sort of real links that the Kerry campaign has uncovered are a different story, though. Find the people who are really involved, uncover their corruption--that's how to drive home the truth that W's people are behind the swifties. But forget about low level folks slapping stuff up on county party web pages. That means nothing.

8. And thats exactly what my question is....
Is it collusion, or isn't it? Not saying I think its any crime, but I do think its worth noting...What can it hurt?

9. Clark and Blumenthal have created 527s...
...to solicit donations to carry forth their books themes into political advertising? Wow, I didn't know that...

10. Clarke's book is not a campaign document....
I've read it, and it does not nakedly advocate against a political candidate like the Swill Boat book does. I haven't read Blumenthal's book.

13. good points
but I still am not clear on how such linkage is in violation of campaign law. Of course, taking advantage of muddy waters is what the Bush machine specializes in. Still, if there are specific rules about what can be on a county party web site, I haven't seen them.

What does strike me, though, is the remarkable uniformity of design and content among the Republican sites, which does indeed suggest that content decisions are being made at a higher level.

14. I see what their strategy is.
They won't link it to the big sites like the national site or the state sites, but will have plenty of links in their local sites.
