Forget about protests. NYC is no place for Democrats--except, of course them as lives there (bless 'em)--while the GOP is in town.
We need to be out in the rest of America making the case for Kerry to our friends and neighbors. While the GOP is scrambling to lower expectations for bounce, let's prepare to give them a bounce they're not prepared for--out of office.
In addition to visibility activities (home town rallies, intensive lawn sign & bumber sticker efforts, etc) I suggest that we take this occasion to e-mail friends and acquaintences encouraging them to actively support Kerry/Edwards.
So, work up a draft e-mail (do it now so it's reasoned & temperate--not composed in the fit of rage you will undoubtedly experience if you actually watch the convention) and load it up with up addresses so you can fire it off during the convention.
Here's mine:
"Dear Friends, "I believe the Bush administration is steering America in the wrong direction--in foreign affairs, in the fight against terrorism and in economic policy. We owe it to our children to get our country back on track. That's why I'm actively supporting John Kerry and Democratic candidates for congress and the Senate.
"If you agree, I urge you to actively support Kerry/Edwards and Democratic candidates for the House and Senate. You can start by e-mailing an appeal like this one to your friends.
"If you don't agree or are unsure, let me know I'll be happy to explain in more detail why I think it's so important to elect John Kerry this November.
Thanks, Dave"
