Insert doom-and-gloom "We're Screwed!" downer posts here
There's too much goddam good news in this forum right now. The Swifties are busted, the bloggers are screen-grabbing the evidence for all to see, DU is clobbering the media to cover it, and they are actually covering it, people are quitting the Bush campaign over it, the GOP is scrambling to destroy evidence that has already been screen-grabbed, and all of it is happening during the week's run-up to the GOP convention.

This sucks. I come here to get depressed. C'mon, DU. Gimmee some of that old-time religion. It's good enough for Grandma. It's good enough for me.

;)

3. Doomed, doomed, I say!
Without Reverend Howard Clark Graham's father's hairdresser running, we can't possibly defeat Bush. Without the hairdresser vote, no one ever wins the suburbs of Milwaukee, and as they go, so goes the country.

10. I don't know if this will suffice, but
in political terms it's still a long way until November. Right now, a total failure as president who shirked his guard duty, invaded a country based on lies, and has presided over a shrinking job market and huge deficits is in a dead heat with our guy.

It shouldn't even be close. Any help?

At least you all got the ball rolling with BBV.

Lots of great INFORMED LTTE in today's NYTimes about electronic voting.

People are becoming aware of this issue.

You've covered a lot of ground very quickly.

32. Yeah,
I was talking to my ex-hubby (oh my God, we're great friends - go figure) and he mentioned that Bexar County (San Antonio, TX) would be using touch screens without a paper trail. My response to him was even sadder. I said "it's ok hon, you're in Texas, your vote wasn't going to count, anyway."

However, during the two hour conversation, an hour of which was politics, I think maybe he might have been inspired to do a little activism. I've encouraged him to think locally as that is how the Repugs did it.

And so it goes. But despite the pessimism inherent in my statement, I am starting to harbor some hope. Remember when they said that the 90s would make the 60s look like the 50s? I think they may only have missed by a decade. Better late than never. We are here, we aren't going away, get over it! Whoo hoo!!!!!

14. Okay. *sigh*
Kerry voted for the war resolution!

Kerry doesn't fight back hard enough!

He waited too long!

He's Skull and Bones!

He doesn't have any positions on anything!

He looks French!

The polls show he's lost ground to the Swifties!

Michelle Malkin!

And Michelle Malkin!

Okay, I can't even fake pessimism. :(

20. This could be depressing....
Maybe those long reaching Bush henchman are even now striking fear into those poor souls who make up the body of the electorial college which are not near as many bodies when you take into account those Millions upon Millions of voters who plan to turn out on "Judgement Day"...And then forcing them to re elect GB even if it turns out he has lost the popular vote by the millions this time...

He did not win the popular vote in 2000, yet stands supreme over us little people instead of Gore...

Is it possible to make such happen again? They don't seem to care about all the back lash of being called liars and cheaters...

23. Lead the charge, but don't suppress the debate
We're turning the corner (no, really), but most of the negativity here today has been in analysis of the Sunday Morning talk shows. And many have tried to be constructive and specific, as Dem Strat suggested.

Although there is some good news, we still got hammered on ThisWeek by O'Neill. MTP was much better.

25. Kerry's Honor is attacked and he just sends lawyers
Its a vicious savage attack directly on his honor (and the honor of all who have received medals for heroism in war). Kerry's tepid response has done more damage than the Swifties' lies. Rove has him right where he wants him!

Rove's Turn Off the Vote drive is kicking into high gear. The mindless middle are turning against him so he needs to turn them off and keep them away from the polls. To the typical American apolitical casual observer this entire farce is one more reason to boycott this silly system. Talk about Tweedle Dums-- one coward who went AWOL versus another who shot himself in the foot to get medals. Some choice!

We're all screwed (feel better?).

27. I just spent two days talking and e-mailing ...
my mother and brother off the cliff. I feel pretty good about things; they're almost desperate. It's interesting, though. My brother uses the Internet, but doesn't go too much beyond mainstream sources and my mother still has trouble e-mailing people. She watched ABC this morning and was ready to pop a cork after seeing O'Neill. She thinks all is lost and that they'll never shut up about this Swift Boat nonsense. I think it takes a while for what we read and know about to seep into the mainstream. Hoping that's true...

30. Doom: Billions of dollars
have been stolen from the citizens. Our leaders cannot manage torture, death, lies, takeovers...or....money and we're supposed to trust them because they wear suits in the White House.

Gloom: The media never reports on thefts of taxpayer funds beyond one sentence for a few hours. Only a handful of Congressional leaders say anything, not enough act, and nothing more is heard about it.

(I think Sen. John Warner would be the appropriate person to write to regarding the latest theft announcement.)

Sunshine: Offended former veterans who are now implicated in snubbing their noses at the law and breaking one of the ten commandments are heading towards the 'falls'.

Sunshine: Ken Cordier and Ken Dahlberg - one helped bring down Nixon. The other?
