Kerry's parents tied the knot in Montgomery
The Kerry-Pitt connection.
Redding Pitt is Will's dad.

Kerry's parents tied the knot in Montgomery

John Kerry's parents married in Montgomery while his father was stationed at Maxwell Air Force Base during the early days of World War II.

Kerry's mother had to flee her family's vacation home in France after the Germans captured Paris in 1941, said Redding Pitt, chairman of the Alabama Democratic Party. Because the Kerrys were already engaged, Kerry's mother came directly to Montgomery instead of her native New England upon returning to the United States, Pitt said.

The newlyweds lived in Montgomery only seven months or so, Pitt said.

Edwards, maybe Kerry to visit Birmingham

Newly nominated John Edwards is scheduled to campaign in Birmingham, state Democratic Party chairman Redding Pitt said Wednesday.

Pitt said there's a "very good possibility'' that John Kerry, who Democrats will nominate tonight as their presidential candidate, will go with Edwards to the Birmingham fund-raiser. Pitt and Kerry have been friends since both attended Boston College law school in the late 1960s.

I was born in Montgomery, August 22, 1941, so there's a good chance we were all in town at the same time.
Small world.
