Attack on Kerry's war record riles GOP rep (Wisconsin)
http://www.jsonline.com/news/metro/aug04/253040.asp?format=print

No good deed goes unpunished, and these days that certainly includes John Kerry's service in Vietnam.

I'm sure this young Yale man could have found a way to avoid going over there, but Kerry signed up.

He volunteered to serve as skipper on a swift boat flushing out the enemy along rivers and canals. He rescued a soldier and earned medals for valor and for combat wounds.

Now this band of bothers turns up in books and television ads saying they served somewhere near Kerry in 'Nam and they think he's a no-good liar and an unworthy soldier. And, oh yeah, vote George W. Bush for president.

"I just think it's wrong."

That's not one of Kerry's fellow Democrats talking. It's Terry Musser, a Republican state rep, longtime chairman of the Assembly Committee on Veterans and Military Affairs, and the co-chairman of Wisconsin Veterans for Bush.

1. Good to hear
I think McCain, too, needs to step up his attacks on this group. Or is he doing so and I'm just not hearing about it.

3. Very good. I think we have " turned the corner ."
Some mighty smart people in Wisconsin. Even some of the Republicans catch on sometimes. :)

4. They know this type of lies could be the beginning of the end of their
Party. What good God loving American would vote for a party that endorses hate as a family value?

6. I know! I know! Pick me!
It's the Republicans, right?! What do I win?

5. McCain could take some lessons from Rep. Musser.
He's handling it very well; still vowing his support for Bunnypants but making it clear he thinks this kind of attack hurts ALL veterans.

Since he's keeping clippings, Mr. Musser, I think Republicans are misguided, but you are an all-right guy, IMHO.

7. The first thing that came to my mind after reading this:
this will help Kerry big-time in Wisconsin. It's close there right now (too close for my comfort), and this could make a difference.

Thanks, Rep Musser!

8. The first thing that came to my mind
is that local Repugs can see if this backfiring big time and they could go down with Bush.

Better than a poll or the media trying to judge if the Bush tactic is "working".

9. Good for this guy! I would think lots of Veterans would be offended...
by the attacks on Kerry's service.
