Time To Roll Out Bob Kerrey......
I see Bob Dole is playing the "John Kerry doesn't deserve his Purple Hearts because his injuries weren't as grievous as mine..."*

Bob Kerrey lost his right leg to a mine and still led his crew to safety... He won the Medal Of Honor and a Purple Heart...

*My dad lost the sight of his right eye in the North African Campaign during World War 2 and he never sat around the house saying who didn't and didn't deserve their Purple Heart....

1. Bob Kerrey of the 9/11 comm. is missing a leg???
I didn't know that.

Where is he anyway. I thought he was a Kerry supporter. Maybe not.

He dated Deborah Winger but that's only part of it....

He won the Medal of Honor for his heroism which cost him his leg....

He was the first Medal Of Honor winner since Reconstruction to serve in the Senate.....

17. An another interesting tidbit...
John McCain s father was CINPAC when Bob Kerrey was put up for his medal...the recommendation was for 1 level lower than Medal of Honor.
McCain s father bumped him up to Medal of Honor.

I heard him tell this story, & it was quite interesting. Kerrey was laughing about it.

Bob Kerrey was pretty amazing...a Navy Seal, when it was quite rigorous to qualify.

2. I wish Kerrey would come out
He said earlier that if anyone would question KErry's service he'd be pretty pissed.

3. Where's Chuck Hagel?
I would have expected him to call on the chimp to denounce the ads. Has he been silent, or did I miss it?

4. Yes, I want to hear from Bob Kerrey NOW!
When the New York Times Magazine printed a story in 2002 that characterized Kerrey's actions in Viet Nam as war crimes, John Kerry organized vets to speak in Bob Kerrey's defense. It's time for Bob Kerrey to speak out publicly to defend John Kerry against the smears and lies of the Swift Boat Liars for Bush.

5. Where are ALL the Vietnam vets?
Goddamnit, we have enough vets in the Party to be on tv 24/7 defending Kerry, where are they??

8. Apparently locked in the same room as the men who served in the
Texas national guard with Chimpy and who will tell how he was there the whole time.

7. he MIGHT be a liability right now
after all, he did confess to some personal atrocities. I think it'd be better to keep Max Cleland out there and even better--of course--is to have Wes Clark out there EVERYWHERE because he can say "look, I didn't appreciate what Sen. Kerry said when he came back any more than any other soldier in Vietnam did. But it was the right thing to do, the moral thing to do, the patriotic thing to do," etc.

When you see Clark, you actually SEE the uniform on him still, even to the most partisan of them, IMHO. Kerrey might also be a bad idea because of the 9/11 thing and the pukes will make a case that he politicized it too much and did too much grandstanding.

9. I agree there might be trouble with Kerrey...
And Max rocks. I'm a Clarkie, so of course I agree with everything you said there.

But it's not enough. Hell, even Gore served, at least, where is he?

13. I Believe The Attacks On Bob Kerrey Were Intended To
Neutralize Him As A Political Force....

I no more believe the attacks on him than I believe the attacks on John Kerry...

Who knows what happens in the fog of war... There are as many different recollections of Bob Kerrey's service as there are of John Kerrey service.....

He'd be a great point man... Medal of Honor and prosthetic limb and all...

He was the first Medal Of Honor winner to serve in the Senate since Reconstruction and has a reputation as a straight shooter...

14. Yeah, but that's the problem...
There are as many different recollections of Bob Kerrey's service as there are of John Kerrey service.....

There is even more for them to go at Kerrey with, than John. I don't want him to have to go through the same thing.

21. There Are Also As Many Recollections...
There are also as many recollections of John Kennedy's, Bob Dole's , GeorgeHerbert Walker Bushs, and Lyndon Baines Johnson's war heroics, and even Max Clenlands....

I say "bring it on"....

12. Aug 14 Bob Kerrey wrote an Editorial about Slime Boaters for Bush
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A64007-2004Aug13.html

snip

The former Navy personnel who are attempting to discredit Sen. John Kerry's record of service in Vietnam are doing so to argue that he is unqualified to be commander in chief. Most appear to be angry with him on account of his opposition to the Vietnam War, not his service in it. They have done a better job of damaging the reputation of the U.S. Navy than they have of damaging John Kerry.

Moreover, they ignore what I consider to be the most important qualities any commander in chief must possess. If elected in November, John Kerry will make an exceptionally good commander in chief.

The Republicans are in full attack mode and we're not.

DemocratsinceBirth said........I see Bob Dole is playing the "John Kerry doesn't deserve his Purple Hearts because his injuries weren't as grievous as mine..."*

If that is the case I dont think Bob Dole deserves his VIAGRA cause apperently his Johnson probably isnt long enough for it to be useful....

20. Kerrey Promised To Stay Out Of The Election...9/11 Comish
In the closing days, all the commission members pledged not to become actively involved in the Presidential campaign. While I know this is veteran helping veteran, but I suspect Bob's abiding to his pledge.
