?????? Why does swift vets have legs but plame and torture died
this farce seems to have bigger and longer legs than the truth....how is that so.....is it because the GOP has it on all their websites, flyers, hannity, rush and the rest of the rw media......

how can we match that.....we have truth on our side but it does not seem to stack up against lies......that is frustrating....

2. Pretty much.
Plame would make * look bad--SBV bashes Kerry and gives the media many opportunities to run those damned ads.

3. Plame hasn't died.
The grand jury is actively hearing witnesses. Patience, Grasshopper--- good things come to those who wait.

9. I don't see the torture scandal anywhere!
Rumsfeld (if not Dimson himself) authorized the total stripping of prisoners and use of dogs. Gawd only knows how many prisoners were murdered, and where is the reporting?

It's clear as crystal to me. The American media didn't grow a set after all. It's giving the brain-stem public what it wants to hear and see.

12. Welcome to DU, arewenotdemo
If I close my eyes, I can see the hooded man hooked up to wires and standing on a box; so can almost every other American. They haven't polled it, but I believe that most people know where the fault lies - with the higher ups.

20. Thanx, alcuno...
You make an interesting point. It kind of reminds me of the My Lai massacre and the overwhelming sympathy with which the American public viewed Calley. It didn't matter that hundreds of Vietnamese men, women and children were murdered. Calley was one of us, a little guy, and was being scapegoated.

Obviously, the greater guilt of those in command (Bush, Rumsfeld, Miller and Sanchez) does not exonerate the tools. And I'm sure that Abu Ghraib has cost Bush some votes. But this war and the torture scandal should have buried him.

15. Frankly...
People have been saying that the shoe was about to drop on Plame, and the teenagers sodomized at Abu Ghraib, and on BBV, and several other stories for quite a while now. I don't want to express undue incredulousness, but.. at this point, I'll believe it when I see it.

I've pretty much given up on any of the known, massive amounts of "more shocking" material related to Abu Ghraib that someone is sitting on being released -- any time in my life.

13. I guess I am a grasshopper......I posted this earlier today....
in the du lounge....because this is the way their crap feels to me.....

And I have seen good people put down and lose by thugs....it happened to mac cleland and others......and when we start measuring wounds...no matter how you got them....the psychological wounds of war ....are much greater....we have an awol ....deserter president and a bunch of flunkies under him.....and they are getting away with murder...literally.

This is my other post earlier today.....on bully tactics which the rethugs seem to have perfected...

We don't know what else Mr. Fitzgerald has already. He may want, but not actually need their testimony.

5. We have the most corrupt media in the Western World.
There can be no other reason. But remember it is our viewing that gives them the advertising dollars to continue to screw us.

7. Because we have not learned
how to fight. Our methods are ineffective. The spoils have always gone to the violent, and we are not interested in spoils or violence.

11. Once again, Plame has *not* died.
The grand jury is actively investigating, and I'd bet a substantial amount of money that indictments will be forthcoming within 30 days.

21. Yayaya, we are talking about in the media...
We know its still going on in real life.

Q: If the media lets it die, will that open the door for it to be swept under the rug in court?

14. Because the ones who are pushing this...
want the bush cartel to be enscounced in the white house again.
And are shameless in their push for liars.

May it come back to haunt them, too.

16. Two reasons
As long as we're reacting--- playing the Repub Noise Machine's game--- we'll be on the nasty end of the stick.

Kerry's people should have seen this coming. It was another failure of imagination.

17. Welcome to DU, Southern Patriot. I'm sure they did see it coming.
This group has been looming on the sideline for some time now. They were going to attack Kerry no matter what happened at the convention; he made a preemptive strike. We'll have to see if they can successfully tie this to *.

22. DU the media on these two issues + black Florida voters
It's crucial. The more of us call and write, the more likely it is these topics will be picked up again -- or in the case of the Florida voters, maybe just get out there for the first time. So far, Bob Herbert of the NY Times has printed three columns on the suppression of the black vote in Florida, happening right now. I have not seen it picked up anywhere else.

23. It's a reality show.
Gossip and personal battles are more exciting and easier to tell than stories that show our government doing something wrong. The media doesn't have to do any work to tell the cheap stories, and people eat them up. Nobody wants to do heavy lifting and risk reprisals to tell the tough stories, and plenty of people out there don't want to hear them, either.
