Why is McCain supporting Bush?
Bush* attacked McCain's military record 4 years ago. If I was in the military, I wouldn't forgive the slime* for such a slur.

Yet McCain has.

Why?

This puts McCain's credibility on the line as far as I'm concerned.

1. I agree totally
It wasn't just his military record, there were claims that he had an illegimate daughter from an out of wedlock relationship with an african american woman, that his wife was addicted to drugs, that he was mentally unstable after his time in a pow camp, that he cooperated with the enemy while imprisoned...

Frankly, I have no idea why or how McCain can support Bush. I don't have much respect for him for doing that. It really seems like he's sold his soul to the devil to try and make a run as the republican nominee in 2008. That's the only rationale I can come up with.

3. Not sure
I mean the guy is what? 70 years old. He wouldnt be able to run for four more years. He could do the honorable thing and back Kerry, but he seems to be holding out hope for something. If he would endorse Kerry, Kerry would surely win and McCain could have any job he wanted in Kerry's cabinet.

4. Sadly it is true
Mccain was mentally broken in the north viet nam detention camp, and
ever since has been brainwashed to destroy the United States by
voting and supporting republican idiocy, no matter sanity.

Since then, he has voted in the interests of terrorists everywhere
who love george bush and his big pusch to increase terrorism against
america, because it gets him big kudos in looking like a man who
was attacked by terrorists.

In fact Mccain and OBL are blood brothers and that is why he supports
bush. Mccain, little known to his own family, is a coward who
would rather fuck iraqi boys in a hotel than stand up for the civil
rights of americans not to be attacked by terrorists trained and
supplied by his own political party.

In short, he's a raving nutter... and of course, in arizona. ;-)

5. McCain is a REPUBLICAN!!
Which had to be pointed out many times when people were hoping for him to be VP. Republicans help Republicans. There was some really personal shit going on in the Dem primary but everyone is on board for Kerry now.

20. It's that "you'll never eat lunch in this town again" syndrome.
They will blacklist him if he doesn't.

Plus he knows W. will probably lose, and then he will smell like a rose instead of manure in the aftermath. I bet if W. had better numbers he would be more vocal in his opposition to this admin's policies.

7. McCain needs GOP money to stay in office for one.
If McCain pulled a Zell Miller the GOP would run a candidate against him and put him out of office. I wish he would switch parties I used to have a great deal of respect for him. I still respect his service in Nam but I can no longer respect his politics.

8. Simple. He's a Republican. Those within a party support the party's
candidates. (The exception would be Zel Miller, of course)

11. Many Democrats today are Republicans hiding as Democrats.
The vast majority of todays democrats are nothing more than Republican Light at best. That is one reason why it has lost so much clout. Many believe in Voodoo economics and other republican crap.

12. Well, maybe Chimpy was actually right 4 years ago and McC -did-
go nuts when he was a POW. I mean, that could explain it, right?
Wish some ballsy "journalist" would ask Dumbya "Mr. President, in 2000 you suggested Sen. McCain became mentally unstable during his captivity...is there any connection between that and his current support for you?"

16. Exactly...
... McCain is laboring under the delusion that he will someday be commander-in-chief.

I think it is extremely unlikely, as he keeps having to trash his "independent" label to lick the Bush* boots.

But everyone must have a dream. I am sick of McCain, who IMHO is damn near schizophrenic.

15. who TF knows HHHmmmmm maybe it is you stand behind the
commander in chief no matter what......I do not understand it...maybe wanting to belong....

I have meet or read about several people who joined the military because they were orphans or abused and it gave them a sense of family and order and control that they never had before....and the team concept becomes so important....believing the team can't make it without you...

so many of the wounded from Iraq want to get back to their team....they are suppose to support the team.....seems like a psychological/codependent/ urge to have something to belong to and the tougher and meaner they are the more they cling to them.....

just analyzing here.....really don't know why he would....he isn't a dem so if he wants money and Bush not to annilate him again.....maybe he feels he has to sell his soul to have what little he has left....

17. Because McCain has been promised the VP spot on the '04 ticket.
That's the real October surprise - the withdrawal of Cheney for health reasons, if you believe that. Mc Cain is positioned to step in as VP "for the good of the country and my party." That's the ONLY way he gets the R nod for '08.

However, as usual, * will shaft McCain when Cheney doesn't resign. McCain will get the old House of Bush ramrod...again.

Pure speculation on my part, but so what?
