Do you think Bush is a coward?
Edited on Sun Aug-22-04 09:51 PM by Onlooker
I think there's substantial evidence that Bush is a coward:
- Without good reason, he chose the National Guard rather than service in Vietnam.
- He did not own up to his addictions and thus went AWOL during his Alabama guard duty.
- He did not order Airforce 1 into DC on 9/11, and thus for the first time in our history, America cowered.
- He avoids press conferences because he's afraid of difficult questions.
- He holds "public" events only with supporters because he's afraid of people who oppose him.
- He and only he will have a special protective podium at the Repug National Convention to defend him against possible attacks.
- I bet he'll have only the minimum number of debates he can politically get away with.

Other evidence?

5. Protective podium?
More details on that one please?

Wow, the pResident is so hated, possibly by people in his own party, that they're worried about putting him up in front of them? That speaks volumes about what a disaster this criminal's term has been.

13. Can't find the link
I can't remember exactly how it was referred to, so I can't find a link (so far). I read an article last week that there will be some sort of special protective podium for Bush that is still being worked on and probably won't be installed until the day before he speaks.

19. A coward and a bully
He hides from protestors,he is crude, and he runs away from people who question him and doubt his"confidence" in his bad decisions,He's scared of the"liberal" media, yet He talks alot of ugly shit about/at people who are powerless or disagree with him(liberal, not a born again 'believer'or don't want to dominate the world). He uses the military like it's expendable, as his extended fists he smashes others,he uses money and the office of the president as a personal weapon of mass pain, poverty and hope destruction,He wants to control ,use and invade everyone else's lives but not be subjected to giving his share, public control or accountability to anyone. He uses his evil manipulator mouth and cruelty of his fellow sociopaths wearing masks of sanity to rouse the public emotions... of the oblivious, the bullies like himself and the fearful.
He uses religion like a machivellian tool to mask the horrible person he really is with platitudes and pretension of holiness, and he evlevates the religious bigots who refuse to feel the results of thier self serving blindness hatred and fear ,thier followers just follow him.
These political monsters know right from wrong, they just do not care about how wrong they are, anymore.Who's gonna MAKE them behave? Who's gonna humiliate them, shame them or ruin them? They don't fear "the people" because they have been given our collective power, the followers and fearful of "radicalism" have made the liberal impotent and the fool.Bush has the bullyboys, bombs, guns troops and cops loyal to the authoritarian structure, out of ignorance of thier own expendability blinded by empty glory.Bush's buddies got all the money, and resources and they will not share because it would empower us,they will slowly crush the hope out of us as long as we accept thier way of life, avccept thier terms, thier "values" and live our lives in thier system of domination and accept it's rules while we tell ourselves we are free just because we can mouth off..

7. He's a bully
and a bully's behavior usually derives from cowardice. He's always had his daddy's position and money to bail him out of whatever mess he made and externalizes all responsibility because he's too cowardly to admit he made a mistake. Loser scum.

18. Without a doubt
There are so many instances of cowardice by Bush it's unbelievable. And people think Kerry won't be strong on defense. I wonder if people know that he shut down a the largest terrorist financer in the world in the BCCI bank while Bush was using that same bank. Too funny. I wonder why Kerry doesn't talk about that?

22. He is the posterboy for cowardice.
He has never exhibited the slightest bit of bravery. He is incapable of taking responsibility and relies on others to fall on their swords or otherwise bail his sorry ass out. That is his entire history!

I like it better when we elected Presidents.

23. Selected quotes on why he did not want to go to Vietnam
...courtesy of Digby's blog.

http://digbysblog.blogspot.com/2004_08_15_digbysblog_archive.html#109305446449877913

"I'm saying to myself, 'What do I want to do?' I think I don't want to be an infantry guy as a private in Vietnam. What I do decide to want to do is learn to fly."

Lubbock Avalanche-Journal, 1989

"I was not prepared to shoot my eardrum out with a shotgun in order to get a deferment. Nor was I willing to go to Canada. So I chose to better myself by learning how to fly airplanes."

Dallas Morning News, Feb. 25, 1990

"I don't want to play like I was somebody out there marching when I wasn't. It was either Canada or the service. ... Somebody said the Guard was looking for pilots. All I know is, there weren't that many people trying to be pilots."

Fort Worth Star-Telegram, Nov. 29, 1998

W left Guard unit too soon

'Bama-bound without OK from Texas

By LARRY COHLER-ESSES and BOB PORT
DAILY NEWS STAFF WRITERS

George W. Bush left his Texas Air National Guard assignment and moved to Alabama in 1972 even though the Air Force denied his request for a transfer, according to his military records.
In fact, Bush, did not even ask for an official transfer until nine days after he moved to Alabama in May 1972.

The Air Force quickly rejected Bush's request, saying the fighter pilot was "ineligible" to move to the Alabama unit Bush wanted - a squadron of postal handlers.

Nevertheless, Bush stayed in Alabama until his Texas commanders finally gave him written authorization five months later to train there.

24. Does the Pope wear a funny hat? Do Pintos explode?
Is Dick Cheney a robot? Is Ann Coulter a man?

I think that there's substantial evidence that the answer to these questions is a resounding YES. I would say the same response is accurate where your query is concerned.

Someone may have brought it up, but the book ;Bush on the Couch' explains many of his short comings and they all make sense. This is a guy who is surrounded by yes men (corrupt ones at that) 24/7. He doesn't read newspapers! His reality must be a scary thing.
