I have a suspicion that the republicans
look for internal problems they may face and then accuse the opposition of it before it arises.
Attacking Kerry's military record before *'s becomes an issue forces Kerry to be defensive and makes any attack on * seem childish.
This could be an excellent strategy for Kerry. Look for his weaknesses and attack * of it first.
For instance, start calling * an elitist and privileged snob.

1. They use projection all of the time
it's one of their most effective tactics- it has driven Democrats crazy over the years, in no small part because of their relutance to attack, for fear that it might drive turnout down.
