Poll question: How Much does the Administration Control the Swift Boat Vets?
Simple question. How much do you think that President Bush or Karl Rove or the Bush Campaign controls the swifties right now? We know that the Bush Campaign probably helped set them up, but are they running them right now?

My own theory is not that much, or else they would be pulling back a little.

Oh and my poll uses Karl Rove as a symbol for the Bush Campaign for obvious reasons.

2. Good question
But Politics is harder to control sometimes. I mean, John O'Neill and the others you have to assume enjoy being on tv and being in the public eye. Will they really want to give that up, even if their actions at this point are probably more damaging to President Bush than to John Kerry?

3. This is the way it works
Republican funders who have ties to the administration and really want to see it win give large amounts of money to a group of vets who want Bush to win as well. They hire some pr people to think of a way to do it (without the direction of the administration or even the funder, but perhaps the advice on which pr to select) and then attack. It all allows the Bush cmoaign to deny connections, though ti is clear they weren't as clean as they'd like to have been.

Anyway you look at it, it is nasty and disgraceful for an AWOL vet to allow an attack on Kerry for his benefit.

4. No arguments there
IT is disgraceful

The key with attack advertising, suprisingly enough, is the light touch. Just enough to make your enemy have a wiff of scandle. These Swift Boat guys aren't being light touched at all ,quite the contrary, and are making themselves and President Bush look like dingleberries.

6. Mostly funding, cheering, and help in coordination
I don't think it's actual control.
