NYC Protests - Concerns (Con't)
Edited on Mon Aug-23-04 09:25 AM by YIMA
This is a continuation of a previous thread.

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=132x640763

http://dc.indymedia.org/newswire/display/103836/index.php

The information at DC-IMC was taken off temporarily but has returned.

They have listed the names, addresses and other personal information of 1600 RNC delegates.

Here are some exerpts regarding what this organization is all about.

"This is exactly the type of information we need in order to confront the corporate oligarchy while they are here in NYC. There will be scores of protesters, many who support the fascist Kerry, here to voice their disgust. Let us not forget that even though we join in one voice against this regime, the democrats in town are no less fascists than the one's currently in power. Meet the new boss, same as the old boss. These people will be just as interested at protecting their corporate whore interests against those of us active in the struggle as are the Bushites. Don't let them stop us in this important endeavor.

Revolution!
No War But Class War!
No Maps But Topo Maps!"

--------------------------

"TIME TO SHUT DOWN LGF, INSTAFASCIST AND THE REST...BY ANY MEANS NECESSARY.

THE DIGITAL BROWNSHIRTS WILL BE STOPPED.

ENJOY YOUR LAST NIGHT OF SAFETY GLEN, CHARLES AND THE REST...TICK, TOCK, THE END IS NEAR FOR YOU FASCISTS."

--------------------------

"I am stocked up on gasoline and coke bottles. I have a feeling that it is going to be very "hot" for some of these attending GOP fascists.

People, not profits. Down with corporate rule."

1. umm..anybody can post on these boards.
why are you so certain these are actual protesters posting these comments and not wingnuts and freepers being smartass and causing trouble. Of coure it is possible for some protesters to express these views but Indymedia is notorius for trolls...

I don't understand why some on this board are so against the people excersizing their right to protest. You are doing EXACTLY what the enemy wants. not good.

I think we as the Mods do a good job of filtering out Freepers on a regular basis. We keep our eyes and ears open at all times and pounce on anything suspicious. Compared to other boards on the web, this site is extremely well guarded.

5. I think he's referring to Indymedia
Anyone can post on Indymedia sites. There are no moderators, like here at DU.

Personally, I think these messages cited in the original post have the stink of psyops all over them. Just my gut feeling.

3. I'm still getting a "database error" on the indymedia link.
I think it's gone for good; and I also think, due to liability issues, they won't let it stay reposted for long.

In response to the reply below, I, a proud, longtime liberal, e-mailed their editors and asked them to please shut down the post.

We should protect the expression of First Amendment rights. I don't consider delegates the enemy, I consider the powers in the RNC to be.

It makes us look better than them (witness the repression and infiltration of NYC protests during the RNC) and besides, dammit, it's the ethical thing to do.

I still care about things like that.

4. It was up when I posted.
Even if it stays down for good this time, I'm sure they have other means by which to distribute this information, and no doubt many have already downloaded it for their own use.

6. I mentioned "liability" in my e-mail to them, so I think
they will watch for it to be continually reposted.

And I'm not even a paralegal yet, but I am working on it. But just paralegal.

I find this despicable; what would their defenders say if they were doing this to US?

8. You mentioned it, I'm sure.
I really doubt they care. Despite the postings at Indymedia possibly being from trolls, they do view the two party's as being equally as evil, and they have no problems joining hands with those they otherwise consider to be the enemy but of whom they agree on one subject if they can use it to their advantage. The postings I quoted do fall in line with the general outlook of those committed to anarchy and their tactics.
