So Obama catches shit for not visiting wounded troops that we, the American public, you and me,
are not even allowed to see or speak to. The dead and dying soldiers kept from us, the caskets at airports, the not so clearly embedded media.........the families,

Un huh...sure this makes a lot of sense.

1. If he would have visited them then they would claim he
dishonored them by using them as campaign props. Why do the Democrats keep letting the Republicans get away with that kind BS time after time. For once I would like to see a Democrat get pissed and tell them to go f--- themselves.

2. Sniper attacks are hard to deal with anywhere. But true, the Dem's could use a little bait too.

3. kicking because it's shameful how this admin. has hidden the caskets, funerals,
wounded, awful decline of VA hospitals... I'm not writing real sentences here, but, yeah, it pisses me off too.

4. Whatever
He should have left his press pool behind and went and visited the troops. He choose not to. Just admit he screwed up and move on. Quit trying to justify his stupid mistakes.

6. if you're going to make that argument.....
At least say "He should have left his campaign staff behind and visited the troops". The press was never going to go anyways, every journalist who was on the trip and has been on air confirmed it.

5. This story is such BS. Here is Hagel on the trip, and also what McCain did in the same situation.
Edited on Mon Jul-28-08 08:57 PM by ProSense
CHUCK HAGEL: Let me add to that. As you know, Bob, the congressional delegation that you referred to ended when we parted in Jordan. At that point, it was a political trip for Senator Obama. I think it would have been inappropriate for him and certainly he would have been criticized by the McCain people and the press and probably should have been if on a political trip in Europe paid for by political funds-not the taxpayers-to go, essentially, then and be accused of using our wounded men and women as props for his campaign. I think the judgment there-and I don't know the facts by the way. I know what you've just read. No one has asked me about it other than what you've just asked about. But I think it would be totally inappropriate for him on a campaign trip to go to a military hospital and use those soldiers as props. So I think he probably, based on what I know, he did the right thing. We saw troops everywhere we went on the congressional delegation. We went out of our way to see those troops. We wanted to see those troops. And that's part of our job to see those troops, by the way, and listen to those troops, Bob. And we did.

BOB SCHIEFFER: Do you think that ad was appropriate?

CHUCK HAGEL: I do not think it was appropriate.

BOB SCHIEFFER: You do not.

CHUCK HAGEL: I do not.
