5. The way CNN explains it
Edited on Mon Aug-23-04 11:28 AM by demdem
Is Bush is claiming Kerry is making knowingly false claims in his new ad that Bush has a connection with the swift boat liars and the people who put the ads together. Which we all know is true.

"Cheney got quite a few deferments, you know, while fella's like Kerry were getting SHOT AT ..... Lucky he wasnt harmed to badly .... Cheney was in no position to get harmed himself ...."

6. I think a lot of us need some context.
Because I, for one, have no idea what you are talking about.

8. Yes, and they're also saying "he did it too!"
Referring to the "Move On" "ad" that compared Bush to Hitler. I say "Move On" and "ad" in quotes, because it was really neither. It was one of thousands of potential ads made by private citizens in a contest open to anyone, made and funded by one private citizen, never run by Move On or anyone else anywhere, and yanked from the contest by MoveOn.

Oh yeah, and denounced by Kerry.

This makes them appear to be the duplicitous, hypocritical crybabies they really are.

9. A little history for the younger DUers
In 1974 Muhammad Ali was fighting George Foreman in what was billed as "The Rumble in the Jungle," a heavy-weight title fight actually fought in Zaire (it was a Don King thing -- don't ask). Foreman is one of the legendary heavyweight fighters, not because of his technique but because of his devastating strength. The guy could knock you right into last week.

Ali's strategy seemed insane. He covered his head and backed into the ropes and virtually invited Foreman to come in and pummel him with crushing body blows for four rounds. In the eighth round, Ali uncovered and then proceeded to pound an arm-weary and punch-drunk Foreman into a TKO.

It became known as the "Rope a Dope," and it works pretty damned well in politics, too.
