NYT: Bush Says SBV Should Stop Running Anti-Kerry ads! CNN says NOT!

CNN's Jill Dougherty, however, is NOT saying this at all. They are asking her about it. She repeated that Bush is not saying this; she was at the briefing.

Bush is, as expected, repeating his mantra about ending all 527 ads. Do you suppose he knows that the Dems' 527's are whooping GOP butt?

Amazing, New York Times has, in just a few short minutes, removed the NEWS ALERT that was at the top of the page. OOPS! Someone goofed!

Bush Denounces Ads by Outside Groups

By PETE YOST
The Associated Press
Monday, August 23, 2004; 1:44 PM

CRAWFORD, Texas - President Bush denounced TV ads by outside groups attacking both John Kerry and himself on Monday and called for a halt to all such political efforts. "I think they're bad for the system," he said.

Bush made his comments in response to a question about an ad sponsored by Swift Boat Veterans for Truth that said Democrat Kerry didn't deserve his Purple Hearts, lied to get his Bronze Star and Silver Star and unfairly branded all veterans with his 1971 congressional testimony about atrocities in Vietnam.

3. This just goes to show how quickly the media will pounce on anything...
... that seems positive for Bush.

My guess is Jill Dougherty will be "put in her place" shortly, and most CNN talking heads will be saying "He (Bush) already repudiated all these ads, why won't Kerry just give it a rest?"
