The one attack ad I want to see: John McCain Funded By The Oil Companies
John McCain's campaign has been given millions by the oil conglomerates. The same oil companies that have made $12 billion in profits in the last three months. The same oil companies that have quadrupled your gas prices in the last eight years.

For eight years, the oil companies funded the campaigns of George Bush & Dick Cheney. For eight years, the Republicans have given those oil companies huge tax breaks.

And now John McCain is becoming the new George Bush. McCain's plans include even bigger tax breaks for the oil companies. No wonder they are funding him.

Break the oil companies' control over our government and our future.

Vote for change.

1. $33 billion in taxpayers giveaways to the oil companies.
On news of the massive profits reported by ExxonMobil today, ABC News crunched the numbers and has found that the combined profits of the top 5 US oil companies was $1.5 trillion last year.

The news report points out that this staggering amount of profit is more that the total GDP of Canada, at $1.43 trillion last year.

As many have rightly pointed out that while these profits margins are staggering, they are not out of line relative to other companies like Microsoft. However, where these profits do become obscene is when you consider how much US oil companies receive in taxpayer subsidies.

Here's the breakdown of how your tax dollars will be spent on subsidizing Big Oil over the next 5 years:

Tax breaks = $23.2 billion

Royalty relief = $3.8 billion

Research and development subsidies = $1.6 billion

Accounting gimmicks = $4.3 billion

2. The Democrats & Obama need to ride this all the way until November.
This is a monopoly.

And the monopoly is paying off Republicans to rip off the American people.

5. they always leave the elephant out of the analysis
The biggest subsidy of all for the benefit of oil barons.

The unecessary, illegal, obscene, wasteful, hateful wars. :grr: This latest, half a tril, 4,000+ lives lost, (how many destroyed?), and counting...

3. Ask And You Shall Receive - But Shhh - Big Media Does Not Want You To Know

First, the DNC has a recent commercial that does exactly what you said:

http://www.democrats.org/a/2008/07/dnc_web_video_p.php

Second, unlike a RNC ad, Big Media will never play a Democrat ad for free. Big Media does not subsidize Democrats. Just Republicans. That is why the notion that Obama has a fundraising advantage is largely an illusion. The RNC receives a massive off the books in-kind contribution from News Corp (Fox News), Disney (ABC), etc., through their constant free play of RNC ads.

It is so obvious that it is almost comical such as Hannity and Combs' "analysis" of McCain's false commercial attacking Obama for visiting the troops. They just played the commercial five times in a row, and then had a comment period regarding what McCain could do to improve it led by Hannity, Estrich and Huckabee.

You would think that Hannity and Combs would at least place the above DNC ad to tear it apart. However, what they do is worse. They simply ignore it, so Obama and the DNC have to bear the full cost of showing the commercial.

4. not to mention that his mother Roberta is an "oil heiress"-
people completely ignore this-
Mccain is not from 'humble' beginings- despite his attempt to make people believe otherwise.
