Not good- Race tightening in PA, Ohio, FL

New Poll Shows Obama-McCain Race Tightening in Pennsylvania

by KYW's Tony Romeo

A new Quinnipiac University poll shows that Barack Obama’s overseas tour left voters in Pennsylvania and two other “swing” states unimpressed.

The Quinnipiac poll shows Barack Obama leading John McCain by seven points in Pennsylvania, 49 percent to 42 percent. But that’s actually down from a 12-point lead in the school’s last Pennsylvania poll, in mid-June.

Clay Richards, assistant director of the Quinnipiac University Polling Institute, believes a changing focus on issues is behind the numbers -- in particular, concerns about energy...

Quinnipiac polls also show the race tightening in Ohio and Florida.

1. Very good: Obama leads in three key swing states.
The fact that those states are close is no surprise. They will probably stay close until election day.

17. That's what I LOVE about DU.
I read the OP and thought, "Oh no, this is bad."... First post: "Very Good."

I have been a "glass half-empty" type the last 2 days. Thank God for you "glass half-fulls!" Just when I fear the bottom is falling out, somebody here is hopeful.

Thanks, Radical Activist. I needed that.

Go DU!!! Go Obama!!!

3. The other way to look at it is Obama is leading in all three.
Bigger leads would be nice, but this is much better than if McCain were leading.

Also, this far out, worrying too much about small shifts in poll numbers is silly.

16. To be fair, this same poll had him leading in Florida by a wider margin.

5. Quit the hand-wringing. These polls are good news
Quinnipiac wants to pretend like their polls are the only ones that exist.

12. Exactly he leads in three key swing states. FL wasn't even supposed to be a Obama state
if you went by the primary controversy.

7. Umm, the race in Fl is "tightening" in Obama's favor...
there is nothing in that article to provide evidence of it title's claim.

15. Maybe that swing's from the oil drilling issue as well.
That would land the drilling issue in Florida's backyard, while OH & PA would just reap the benefits.

9. Bull shit.. they are skewing the numbers.. and I have never gotten a
survey call.. I don't know many who have.. There base is land line persons who are actually home.. People are on vacation, at work, and not paying attention yet... Wait until after the Olympics and after the convention and then after the first debate.. I haven't met one person yet who is voting for McCain. I live in Florida. I don't see any McCain stickers on anyone's car. I only see Obama stuff and few old Hillary stickers. Bull shit they are close. By the time we get to the fall elections, we will have even more people clutching their purses and emptying their children's piggy banks to fill the care with gas.

10. Do you have the numbers for OH and FL? 7-pt lead in PA is good
there is inevitably going to be some tightening. I also think that this is the first time the Q-Poll has put Obama in the lead in Florida.

11. How is this "not good"? Are you a McCainiac?
Obama LEADS in all three.

Nine other states have been upgraded in Obama's favor, too.

The ONLY WAY this is "not good" is if you support McCain.
