So. Here's the WORST they can come up with on Kerry:
1. Flip-flopper. YAWN. Their guy has a flip-flop list a mile long from just four years in office and they think they've got a leg to stand on? Plus most people I've talked to JUST don't care about this one. It's weak.

2. The Smeary Lies.

Is that it? Am I missing anything? That's all they've got?

Wow.

1. that and they've forced him to use all his time defending himself
instead of being able to talk about the issues. so, if he stays quiet on the lies they resemble the truth. and if he spends all his time defending himself, he never talks about the issues.

the rw tactics have worked to a degree no matter how you slice it.

8. I can't believe he fell for this. He should have said
"contact my lawyers," meaning a team of rabid libel lawyers he'd have been smart to sic on Regenery and those smear boat liars.

He's really fallen for the oldest trick in the book on this one, and I'm terribly disappointed. He needs to SUE THESE BASTARDS, let a team of libel lawyers track down all the connections with the RNC and go for the jugular.

At the very least, he'll end up as wealthy as his wife. At the most, he'll completely discredit the whole leadership of the Rethuglican party and deal them a financial blow they'll take years to recover from.

2. Yeah, this does Bush more harm in the long run
The smear is gonna blow back on Bush. They keep talking about Kerry and we'll keep talking about the AWOL smirk.

3. Is it possible that Kerry is just letting this smearing happen
to distract attention from the RNC?

4. You forgot Rich Massachusetts Liberal Elitist
which will be coming in vogue more during the convention.

Note Kerry has started to use the "out of touch with the middle class " theme a little more , this is resonating well. That idea came straight up through the ranks, from internets sites like this one. Good idea using a successful strategy that worked on his dad, who helped us tremendously when he went to the supermarket.

7. I disagree on this one
I don't think either of them as a great history of being "in touch" with the middle class. Not the way the Big Dog did anyway, and he was able to use it successfully against Poppy. I think this one, while true, has the potential to backfire on Kerry.

9. More to come. September will focus on Kerry's senate record
September will probably see an attack on Kerry's voting record. There will be some distraction based on the "most liberal" falsehood, but it is undeniable that Kerry is a liberal. The Bushistas will probably focus on missed hearing attendance and tax votes.

To counter it, bring up the fact that Kerry investigated the massive BCCI bank scandal. Note that George W. Bush had gotten a loan there earlier.

http://www.washingtonmonthly.com/features/2004/0409.sirota.html

Two decades ago, the Bank of Credit and Commerce International (BCCI) was a highly respected financial titan. In 1987, when its subsidiary helped finance a deal involving Texas oilman George W. Bush, the bank appeared to be a reputable institution, with attractive branch offices, a traveler's check business, and a solid reputation for financing international trade. It had high-powered allies in Washington and boasted relationships with respected figures around the world.

All that changed in early 1988, when John Kerry, then a young senator from Massachusetts, decided to probe the finances of Latin American drug cartels. Over the next three years, Kerry fought against intense opposition from vested interests at home and abroad, from senior members of his own party; and from the Reagan and Bush administrations, none of whom were eager to see him succeed.

10. They'll be calling him Hanoi John
I'm predicting they'll call his meetings in Paris with Vietnamese delegations "treason."

13. The problem is
that Kerry is having to waste his time and his money defending something that should not even have been questioned (his war record). So--YES this has been a hit to our side.
