Little Timmy "The Tool" Pawlenty says supporting Obama is like bungee jumping.
Edited on Sat Aug-02-08 03:43 PM by jefferson_dem
Off-Broadway rehearsal for Pawlenty

Minnnesota Governnor Tim Pawlenty, rumored to be on GOP presidential candidfate John McCain's short list of potential running mates, spoke moments ago at an Iowa GOP campaign headquarters opening in Ames. Pawlenty had a prop and several salvos to fire at Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama.

Pawlenty warmed up the crowd by telling an Ollie and Lena joke, then launched into his brief remarks. "The people of the United States of America and the people of Iowa are wise. Voting for Barack Obama for president of the United States, learder of the free world and commander-in-chief is the political equivalent of bungee jumping," Pawlenty said, "especially if you're a little up there along there in the way of life -- you think it might be a good idea or intereesting at the time and then you gete to the edge of the cliff and look over and you think, 'This is not such a wise idea.'"

Pawlenty a few minutes later pulled a prop out of his pocket. "Barack Obama stood up at a speech recently and said said that one of the things that is really important from energy policy from his standpoint is to check the pressure in our tired, so here's a tire guage and you go out in the parking lot here and check your tires. Now, the interesting thing - - we want you to have good pressure in your tires, you know, it will very mildly add to your fuel efficiency but checking the air pressure in your tires is not an energy policy for the United States of America," Pawlenty said. The crowd applauded.

Next, Pawlenty made reference to the candidate standing beside him -- Congressman Tom Latham -- and the topic in McCain's latest campaign commercial. "We have a chance to elect to thesre offices two people who are authentic, two people who are deeply committed to public service and are doing it because they feel they have something to contribute, not out of a sense of celebrity or some other motivation."

I'm set to interview Pawlenty in a few minutes. More later. (Thanks to Eric Johansen for the use of his laptop.)

3. Timmy the Tool has been living in McCain's pants for about a year now.
He even cut his mullet haircut to try to look more VP-ish for the national media. But as usual, he's full of shit. Somebody needs to point out to that pandering douche that voting for McCain would be like bungee jumping without the bungee cords.

Oh, by the way, Timmy, how do you feel about starving the government until bridges in your state collapse and kill people?

5. Or under them.
Just last week some big (>1,000 lbs.) chunks of concrete fell off a freeway overpass in St. Paul onto a couple of passing cars. Fortunately nobody was injured, but when you starve your state's DoT because your rigid GOP ideology forbids the collection of taxes for anything that would actually improve people's lives, shit starts to happen.

Maybe just a tad embarrassing for His Toolness, happening just before the GOOPer convention and so near the anniversary of the 35W collapse?

10. wow, was that on 94 or 35E?
I used to live in the Twin Cities and am still freaked out by the bridge incident, and it's been years since I drove across it.

:scared:

18. gah! another place I'd driven hundreds of times!
I got freaked out about tunnels after the Big Dig incident (a friend drove through there shortly before the panels fell) - then the bridge - then this - and the pipe washout that erased part of I-88 during a flood in NY a few years ago (I think 2 tractor trailers drove into the new gulch).

I had a hard time the last time I drove across the Hudson River on a really tall old bridge.
