Quotes and Opinions From Vets Who Served With Bush
It's been around a week or so, but it's a pretty funny read. This was written by Evelyn Pringle, leader of 'Citizens For Honest Fighter Pilots':

http://www.buzzflash.com/contributors/04/08/con04333.html

Bush claims he attended drills at the Dannelly Base in Alabama. During the 2000 campaign he said, "I was there on a temporary assignment and fulfilled my weekends at one period of time," he said. "I made up some missed weekends." "I can't remember what I did, but I wasn't flying because they didn't have the same airplanes. I fulfilled my obligations."

The official records don't support his claims, they show a Sep 15, 1972, direct order for Bush to report for duty at Dannelly, "Lt Bush should report to Lt. Col. William Turnipseed, DCO, to perform equivalent training," on "7-8 October, and 4-5 November. He never showed up.

Retired General William Turnipseed, and his administrative officer, say Bush was not there. ''Had he reported in, I would have had some recall, and I do not,'' Turnipseed said, "I had been in Texas, done my flight training there. If we had a 1st Lt from Texas, I would have remembered."

But Bush keeps on saying he was there. When asked about Turnipseed's statements, he said, "I read the comments from the guy who said he doesn't remember me being there, but I remember being there."

If his memory is so good, then why can't he recall a single name out of the 700 men he served with? And why hasn't a single guy come forward to say he served with Bush?

1. I agree. What I don't understand is why hasn't someone come
forward to say they WERE there during that time, and shrub simply wasn't!

Or, on the other side (to be fair), why hasn't someone who served with him...from anywhere, come forward to say they at least knew him, and sure, they were doing paperwork in Ala., or SOMETHING????

I know there has to be people out there who look at their TV and say...Hey, I know that idiot!

5. What about that buddy of his from 'F 9/11'
The one who's name was crossed off Bush's records, and wound up being a big oil money guy?

8. Bath? The guy who was the Saudi front man in Texas?
He got booted off the flightline at the same time as Bush....hmmm, did they both flunk their physicals at the same time?

I think he's kept way off the radar screen because of his connections between the Sauds and the Bushs.

9. Anyone Out There With Deep Pockets
Edited on Mon Aug-23-04 09:51 PM by The River
who would like to finance a new 527 group called:
National Guard Veterans For Truth?
I'd love to produce a series of ads featuring
former National Guard Veterans testifying about serving with *.

Opening sequence: 5 or 10 seconds of actual Guardsmen loading up on their way to Iraq
fade to..

First Vet: I'm Lt. John Smith and I never served with
George W. Bush. Does anybody know where he was?

cut to a scene of an empty jet sitting on an empty runway
while the voice-over asks: Where was George? Not here!

Second Vet: I'm Sargent Lance Boile and I never served with
George W. Bush. I never saw him.

cut to a scene of an empty barracks while the voice over asks:
Where was George? Not here?

Cut to the scene of a flag draped coffin while the voice over
says: I'm Pfc. John Doe and I was killed in Iraq last year and
George W. Bush wouldn't even come to my funeral.

Voice over: George W. Bush, A.W.O.L. then, A.W.O.L. now.
Fade to black.

This is just a spur of the moment idea/outline. It could be fleshed out to run 30 or 60 seconds. Maybe use the tune "where oh where has my little dog (George) gone" as background music.

Under the current rules (as least for the not-so-swifties) our spokes
people didn't even have to be in the same unit or even the same area.
All they had to be were Guardsman when * supposedly was on duty in Alabama.

I'm a Navy vet who did 3 tours in Nam and those "swifties" are the worst of the worst.

I know this sounds like an SNL skit but I swear I'd love to see it
airing in all 50 states.

Any takers?

10. I sure don't have deep pockets, but if you caan find some
NG's to be able to put this together, I guarantee you could get the funding from the people here at DU. I would gladly send you $50, and Our total family income is only $25,000/yr.

The problem I see is finding enough people to be able to prove shrub wasn't anywhere! It's really hard to prove a negative, ya know.

11. Exactly!
But since Truth has been taken out of play, proof doesn't
really matter. It's not about proving anything really. What proof
have the swifties offered besides personal recollections?
Factually, the statements would be true. Anyone who ever served in the National Guard and never saw * would be making a true statement.

Thanks for the offer, DU'ers are amazing people.
Spend your tax cut on your family or send it to Kerry.
I have a feeling that those in a position to make this kind
of ad may already be working on it. If not, they can have my idea for free.

4. Garry Turudeau never paid out the money to anyone who could prove
they served with him. I think that says a lot.

6. Here's someone who never saw him in AL
And told a Memphis newspaper about it:

http://www.memphisflyer.com/content.asp?ID=2837&onthefly=1

Recalls Memphian Mintz, now 62: “I remember that I heard someone was coming to drill with us from Texas. And it was implied that it was somebody with political influence. I was a young bachelor then. I was looking for somebody to prowl around with.” But, says Mintz, that “somebody” -- better known to the world now as the president of the United States -- never showed up at Dannelly in 1972. Nor in 1973, nor at any time that Mintz, a FedEx pilot now and an Eastern Airlines pilot then, when he was a reserve first lieutenant at Dannelly, can remember.

7. Lying through his teeth
http://corrente.blogspot.com/archives/2004_03_21_corrente_archive.html#108001203985557405

I can't verify Bush's presence in Alabama, but as a dental professional I am intrigued with his dental records. Generally, an individual with a large bank account doesn't have any missing permanent molars without receiving a fixed bridge (#3 is missing, yet no bridge is placed between #2-4, #2 has a crown, but #4 only has a three surface restoration). The American public needs to see his posterior bitewings from 1973 and a current series of bitewings to better judge the authenticity of the information provided.
