to sort of trace the thinking behind the scenes, read salon's tabletalk white house AWOL thread.....it was started in the spring of 2000 by Marty Heldt who got many records thru FOIA....

Confirmed as accurate in conclusions by a guy who worked with this information for every day of his career, after he crawled out of a tank and stopped getting medals handed to him(He is quite well-decorated, with several "V" devices and multiple Combat Rifleman Awards). He did work with these forms during that era. He knows his stuff.

when i first saw some of his previous research on this topic, i posted some questions to him; he was good enough to respond and asked me to give him feedback on the beta version of this piece.

i've shared with him some of my own speculation about "W... The Missing Months," although i confess i haven't had time to match my own theories to the dates and W sightings that exist. I will as soon as i get time.

i think his work is meticulous and stunning.
there should be a blogosphere Pulizter Prize. he's my nominee.

Kerry would be reduced to going tit for tat and I don't think he needs to go there.
