If the ticket cannot create a narrative to overwhelm the corp. media and the RNC, Obama will lose
Edited on Tue Aug-05-08 11:05 AM by Skwmom
He needs to pick a VP that will help define Obama in such a way that the average voter will listen to what the corporate media and the RNC is espousing 24/7 and say hogwash.

It will take a very POWERFUL narrative to do that. Obama/Schweitzer... because the reaction from the corporate media and RNC would be priceless as they are sputtering and tripping all over themselves trying to redefine that ticket.

1. They are not tripping over themselves. You want to see sputtering and tripping over themseleves
look at the mccain campaing

Yes, the media is trying to put lipstick on the pig, as they say, with regard to mccain

but in the end it will come down to this:

If people believe that bush and the past eight years were good, they will vote for mccain

otherwise, they will vote for Obama

Obama will be the next president

2. You know, part of being smart is NOT underestimating your opponent.
Obama is fighting 3 fronts:

1. The corporate media (national and local)
2. The RNC/McCain campaign
3. Those already running for 2012.

4. I don't disagree that he is fighting 3 fronts, I also believe that the campaign
hasn't even started. Let mccain throw his money away on ads comparing hilton and spears with Obama, when people start to focus on the issues that WILL affect them, that is when it will be very clear that mccain is an extension of bush

I also agree with you he needs an articulate VP nominee who can emphasis the message

It will happen, and it won't be too late

The Obama campaign are giving the rope to the mccain camp that will hang them

7. It's way MORE than a couple of ads. 24/7 there is an orchestrated campaign to negatively
define Obama. It is mass manipulation at it's finest.

8. That is what has been happening the past 8 years, however something happened
We took back Congress in 2006. Historicaly that wasn't suppossed to happen, and it wasn't because the MSM helped us, it was because people are hurting big time

Two years later, they are still hurting, and the choices will be more clear than they have ever been

3. As much as I disagreed with what I'm about to type weeks ago, an Obama/Clinton ticket
might just be that ticket.

The suspense over this almost demands that type of big finale.

6. The Independents will decide this election and Clinton would send them to McCain in droves.
Plus, having the ultimate corporate VP waiting in the wings wouldn't be such a great idea. As they said in OH, Clinton would be in the catbird seat. Wasn't that a lovely meme to spread.

9. I admit it's not pretty but I'm even less excited by these other names being thrown around.
The faux-independents are the ones that would go to McCain. They are the registered independents who only vote Republican. A lot of republicans have this fake-autonomy about them. These are also the base of the anti-clinton right wing machine.

5. Has their been any indication Schweitzer is being vetted at all?
I'm not one to believe the Obama campaign is so perfect that it can protect itself from any leaks. They make be running a tight ship, but they are not perfect. And of the multiple news sources reporting a relatively similar short list, I haven't seen schweitzer on any of them. I wouldn't get your hopes up, and get prepared for a Bayh VP.
