Guardsmen recall not seeing Bush in Alabama
Rosebud57 posted the following link in another thread:

http://www.memphisflyer.com/content.asp?ID=2837&onthefly=1

The above links to an older article, and maybe it's been posted before, but I never saw it. At any rate, the article deserves more attention because it provides personal accounts of National Guardsmen who never saw Bush in Alabama, though expected to.

1. You'd think that James R. Bath would come out in Bush's defense
I guess he's too busy managing Osama's portfolio.

Somebody made a killing (no pun intended) on this.

2. “25 to 30 pilots”
In the flying squadron at Dannelly. Can't Team Bush find just one who can stand with Bush on stage at the RNC and tell of his service in Alabama? Just one?

3. $20k goes to whoever can prove it
Gary Trudeau has $10k on the table, and there's another $10k from a veteran's group that wants proof that the chimp did his duty.

I'm thinking, if you're an ex-guardsman, chances are that $20k might make a difference in your life.

Not ONE of the dozens he would have served with can come forward with conclusive evidence that he was there, not even with $20k on the line?

Didn't the woman who claimed to have had an abortion at *'s urging back in the late 60s or early 70s suddently shut up and it was later discovered she was living in a $500,000 mansion?

13. I hope Moveon has these guys waiting in the wings
They can release an ad when the media start focusing on Bush's military record, which will be hard for them to avoid now.

10. Have you never heard "You can't prove or disprove a negative"?
I think the absence of anyone appearing to support shrub tells the true story. If there is noone to remember him, he just wasn't there! I do find it a bit puzzling that someone hasn't at least come forward to say the opposite..."he wasn't in Tx, or Ala., 'cause he was with me in (XXX). He had to be somewhere!!!! He couldn't have ONLY been seen by 5 or 10 people for all those months! Money can buy a lot of silence, but you can never find everybody who knows something.

These questions have been smoldering for years, since his campaign for Gov in Tx. It's interesting that no one has taken enough interest to dig deep enough to find the real answers.

11. That's probably because
... anyone who really knew where he was has most likely mysteriously and suddenly committed suicide.

He IS a Bush, after all ... people have a way of dropping dead around that family.

15. FANTASTIC!!! We have definitely got this guy (Bishop)'s vote!
from the article:

Bishop voted for Bush in 2000 and believes that the Iraq war has served some useful purposes – citing, as the White House does, disarmament actions since pursued by Libyan president Moammar Khadaffi – but he is disgruntled both about aspects of the war and about what he sees as Bush’s lack of truthfulness about his military record.

“I think a commander-in-chief who sends his men off to war ought to be a veteran who has seen the sting of battle,” Bishop says. “In Iraq: we have a bunch of great soldiers, but they are not policemen. I don’t think he was well advised; right now it’s costing us an American life a day. I’m not a peacenik, but what really bothers me is that of the 500 or so that we’ve lost almost 80 of them were reservists. We’ve got an over-extended Guard and reserve.”....

....Would he consider voting for the president’s reelection? “Naw, this goes to an integrity issue. I like either Kerry or Edwards better.” And who would Mintz be voting for? “Not for any Texas politicians,” was the Memphian’s sardonic answer.

MAKE THAT 2 VOTES IN MEMPHIS!
