How true was Rob Corddry on Jon Stewart last night ??
In his "commentary" on the media? He was so right on, it should be required viewing for all reporters. What do you think my job is anyway? Do you think I'm a referee? My job is to stand here and let one side give his story and then let the other side give their side of the story....not to separate fact from fiction... (paraphrasing largely) :)

1. Man, That Was Great
There is no way the average TV viewer would sit through a program on which a talking head made exactly those same arguments. Much less even tune into a program that would have that discussion.

One of the brilliant things about The Daily Show is the way it is able to disseminate those arguments to a diverse and nonpolitical audience. And it's working.

3. My hope is that the propagandists who call themselves journalists
will be ridiculed and laughed at as openly and knowlngly as we laugh at the transparency of those in the WH and those who direct them, from the outside.

4. Great link to the script on Atrios' blog today

CORDDRY: I'm sorry, my *opinion*? No, I don't have 'o-pin-i-ons'. I'm a reporter, Jon, and my job is to spend half the time repeating what one side says, and half the time repeating the other. Little thing called 'objectivity' -- might wanna look it up some day.

STEWART: Doesn't objectivity mean objectively weighing the evidence, and calling out what's credible and what isn't?

CORDDRY: Whoa-ho! Well, well, well -- sounds like someone wants the media to act as a filter! 'Ooh, this allegation is spurious! Upon investigation this claim lacks any basis in reality! Mmm, mmm, mmm.' Listen buddy: not my job to stand between the people talking to me and the people listening to me.

Must watch tonight - Senator John Kerry will be on.
