I highly doubt that such a well-heeled power couple never traveled to Hawaii on vacation.

3. heheh.... I doubt they're that cool.
My guess is that they stayed at the top hotel or at a DC powerbroker's vacation home in Hawaii. Or maybe one of her brother's (Tommy Boggs) lobbying buddies' houses on the beach, eh?

18. "Remember Pearl Harbor!" Unless your a twittering, biased, m$m nitwit
named Cokie and it's convenient for you to forget the event that got the US into a World War.

And yet, she still gets paid for being a twittering, biased, nitwitty, um, "journalist."

Gag me, please.

20. Cokie is a grad of the Stone Ridge School of the Sacred Heart.
Edited on Mon Aug-11-08 10:38 PM by sakura
It is a preK-12 day school in Maryland, and is girls only after grade K (because of all that sexual development that occurs in grade 1, I guess). There are only 675 students in grades PreK to 12, so it's very small. Tuition for HS is $21,350. Alumnae include Maria Shriver and Kathleen Kennedy Townsend. It has a 1 to 9 teacher student ratio.

On the private school elitism scale, I'd put it way 3/4 of the way between the typical parochial Catholic high school (where almost any student is accepted, class sizes are around 28 and teacher student ratios are around 1:15 (national public school average is 1:16, for reference) and the very end of the scale, John McCain's Episcopal High School (a boarding school where only 29% are accepted, tuition is $40,875 per year, and the teacher:student ratio is 1:5). For comparison, the highest-end day school in the area, Sidwell Friends (where Chelsea went to school) has a tuition of $29,442 per year, it has a 1:8 teacher: student ratio, and only 15% of applicants are accepted.

As Cokie's a Catholic, however, I would guess it would be unlikely that she would have been allowed to attend either Episcopal or Sidwell Friends. I was raised Catholic as well, and there was no way my parents would have allowed it (or --gasp!-- public school. Did I mention I am now a public school teacher?)

So on the Catholic school elitism scale for the Washington, D.C area, I'd place Stone Ridge here:

Coed (horrors)----> All girls'--------> Elite girls'---> Boys'---------------> Elite Boys'
10,000-11,000 ---->$9500-14,000---> $21,350----> $10,500-14,650----->$17,060-24,200

Stone Ridge appears to be the most expensive all girls' Catholic HS in Maryland.

ed for spelling-- alumnae, not alumni

16. What is so "exotic" about vacationing in Hawaii?
If anything, it's a cliche.

And did Cokie mean that it would be more appropriate for Obama to take a nice, relaxing vacation in Kansas? Heck, while he's at it, why not vacation on a hot, God-forsaken hellhole of a ranch in Texas in the middle of summer! Ha ha! Who would be wacky enough to do that?

Oh.

19. And he picked Hawaii because his grandparents live there and he hasn't seen them for a while
"Presidential candidate visits aging grandparents" - that's certainly elitist.

I wish my grandparents had lived in Hawaii.

22. Cokie's been a part of the deliberate dumbing down of America for the last few decades.
Does anyone believe that the fascists who bought control of the broadcast newsmedia in the 80s and 90s did so to assure the American people learned the truth about what their government was doing in their name?
