15. I did so also.
I actually like their music somewhat, maybe because they have great harmony and they're are talented musicians.

18. I agree on those points but then the music starts getting all twangy ...
and this Birkenstock-wearing, alternative medicine imbibing, latte drinking San Franciscan starts getting itchy.

The CDs make excellent gifts. :)

21. I grew up with all kinds of music,
but my father was a big country/blue grass fan. In fact, he played in a Blue Grass band and they were on their way to Nashville and a big recording contract and then I was born. He got religion, became a minister, and left the music industry behind. My mother was more into Blues, Jazz and Opera (who would have thought someone like my mom would like Opera).

When I was young, I hated country music!! But as I mellowed, I began to like some of all the music types again. I especially like vocal harmony. Perhaps that comes from my years growing up in the church and singing with my sisters. Anyway, my adult children liked the alternative music scene, and I like some of it also. But things just seem to go around in this life, and now my daughter loves Blue Grass music also. She is not into the Dixie Chicks, I like them so that would be too much to ask for.

25. I second that
I'm sorry but country music makes me ill. I did end up buying the Dixie Chicks CD and have now become a fan.

Outside the Xcel center of course. Great week for protest concerts here in Minnesota.

6. Not "Yes!", but, "Hell, Yes!!!!!"
Just the other day a co-worker said that she used to love the Dixie Chicks but after "you know" she does not listen to them anymore. I guess I don't need to tell you she is a conservative Republican.

All the more reason to bring'em on, that would be the Dixie Chicks on stage at the convention. What do you think, DNC and Obama!?!?!?!? Let's do it!!!:toast: :bounce: :bounce: :kick: :loveya: :headbang: :patriot:

7. Not a fan of their music, but definitely a fan of their politics!
A real fan of their music should suggest one of their songs for the convention and the Obama campaign, imho.

Of course, they could probably write a kickass song just for the occasion.

I love the Dixie Chicks. The first time I heard them was during the televised 2004 Vote for Change concert; it was such a great concert with so many great artists.

28. Please no
There are plenty of great artists out there that are also strong opponents of the GOP. Neil Young is a great example. I'd much rather see Neil over a band that's only popular because of one sentence.

29. Some pop artists like Jewel have embaced the country world
Edited on Thu Aug-14-08 05:22 PM by mvd
A great group, the Dixie Chicks, was basically ousted from it and are going their own way. I think publicity for them is good. I'd hate for them to fade into obscurity.
