WWII Vet Attacked by Bush Supporter
I was at a Kerry precinct organizing meeting tonight. One of the people there was a man who is 85 years old, WWII. He has a Veterans for Kerry sticker on his car and wears a button that says the same thing. He also wears a baseball cap with his old unit's insignia AND he has the "Combat Injured WWII" vet plates on his car. (He was hit by a German sniper.)

He tells us tonight that he was getting into his car yesterday and some Bushita (and a middle aged one at that) accosted him, ranting about how a vet could support Kerry. This oaf wounded up his rant by telling the vet he was "unamerican". This guy was almost in tears when he told us this - but I think that's because he was so angry. He was there to volunteer, he says he can't do phone calls anymore because his hearing isn't so good, but he's volunteering for door knocking. 85 years old and this guy is going to go out pounding the pavement for Kerry!

Sometimes I think Bush supporters are even lower than Bush.

2. They're panicking
Our candidate is better than theirs, even by their standards, and they can't stand the mental dissonance.

12. That's how I feel
I have nowhere NEAR the credentials of this WWII vet. I did serve 8 years though. ALL, every single one, of my freeper co-workers sat at home, and one dude was a drug dealer. So, ANYTIME they start ranting about Kerry/Vietnam, I fucking go off. If any of them ever called me unamerican (or anyone else who saw my Kerry sticker next to my USAF Veteran license plate) they'd be in for some trouble.

5. bush supporters like this especially are
the lowest form of being.

I'm so proud that someone like the 85 year old Vet is for Kerry.

I can imagine how People in other Countries are looking at our election from the outside and it is close to a civil war.

We are a Country with two distinct kinds of people ..the people who want bush out and the people who fall for all that crap.

Of course, we still have our apathetics, too.

6. Bush supporter have completely lost it
To verbally attack a 85 year old WW II veteran for supporting Kerry is as disgusting as it gets.

Hey Freepers:
Stop attacking people just because they have different opinions than you. Especially Veterans who served this country honorable. This is still a Democracy and people have the right to vote for whoever they want to. You have the right to vote for Bush, even though I personally don't understand that, and we have the right to vote for Kerry.

If you'd like to live in a dictatorship, why don't you move to North Korea or Cuba?

9. They are lower than whale crap.
Just when I think these characters couldn't possibly do or say anything more despicable than they've already done, I read something like this. A deranged freeper goes after an 85-year-old WWII vet? What is wrong with these people?

11. Bush the Great Uniter?
He's even figured a way to divide our vets. It also shows the total lack of class of Bushco and their supporters.

13. I truly believe the Limbaugh's and the Hannity's
are ultimately responsible for these walking time bombs. How many stories like this have we seen just here at DU of some limbot going off on someone for nothing more than wearing a Kerry button. I know of at least one thread from yesterday of a gal being accosted at a Wal-Mart for her Kerry button. Civil discourse is dead if these radio hate-mongers are not reined in. And like the poster above I wait for the day that shit happens to me.

14. Vets for Kerry
http://www.vetsforkerry.com

I have a Vets for Kerry sticker on my car and can't wait for soem Bush supporter to insist that I not support Kerry.

It isn't rocket science...

Bush cut veterans funding to pay for tax cuts for the rich...

He lied to start a war that has gotten 940 soldiers killed (I ownder how long it will take for the Republicans to make a TV comemrcial denouncing those guys and gals)...

He attacks veterans in lieu of talking about jobs, healthcare, wages, the environment, a failed war, civil liberties, his failed education policies...

And so on. I'm a vet, but I also have to work for a living and need healthcare, etc...
