"Many Bush voters disillusioned with Bush's failures"
Found, of all places, on Free Republic in an article the poster flagged as:

"Martin Schram: The mission: Destroy Kerry (hysterical Rat alert)
Naples Daily News 8/25"

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1198794/posts

You have to register to read Naples News articles, and this Freeper posted most (if not all) of the article without comment. They often post L-O-N-G articles there, apparently they have no "four paragraph" rule. No one has responded to his / her post yet.

It's the kind of article DU would post as truth, and the Freepers are posting it as BS:

"It was weeks ago, maybe longer than that, when word got around that Karl Rove had made up his mind. The only way for George W. Bush to win re-election is for John Kerry to be destroyed.

Not just out-debated on the issues of 2004 — the war that toppled Saddam Hussein, the war to crush al Qaeda, the economy, health care. Destroyed. The best strategic thinking of the president's political commander in chief, as it was understood by those who know him best, was based upon a clear-eyed calculation: the Bush-Cheney team had run out of high-road options.

Here's why: Polls showed that President Bush was in trouble in many pivotal states, and that taking strong positions on hot-button issues that stoke his hard-core voters (against gay marriage, etc.) won't be enough. Many Bush voters are disillusioned with Bush's failures — Iraq, economy, health care. Rove had to convince disillusioned Bush voters that Kerry was so bad that they didn't dare switch — even if they thought Kerry would be better on the big war-and-peace, bread-and-butter issues.

So Rove and those who admire his play-to-win skill knew that Campaign 2004 had to get dirty — to destroy Kerry."

1. This sounds about right.
And it's playing out. I think Kerry will come out on top.

4. Well, not too many of us think Rove is stupid.

Plenty of us think dumbya and many of his cronies are, but not Rove. So it's not surprising to see that he is reading the situation correctly.

Rove is a first class s###bag, but he ain't stupid.

Rove's problem, and dumbya's, is that in John Kerry, they have a very tough, very smart and able opponent who has shown himself ready to take their slime and turn it right back on them.

5. NEWS FLASH:
John Kerry proved what he is made of in Vietnam 35 years ago. Bush and Cheney and Rove ignore this at their peril. He has cast-iron cojones.

6. For me, that would be the ultimate irony
& victory!

I want to see Kerry win to get rid of these imposter patriots!!!!

No credentials as patriots; stayed home during Vietnam.

Lied to get us into war.

Sent OTHER people s children to fight, cause their lives are cheaper than the Bush twins.

Imposter Patriots.... Purge them from the Government!!!

7. Kerry is the right candidate at the right time...
I think that he has the right tools and resume to stand up to the crap that will be dished out.

Having toughed out the Swift Boaters, I wonder what the next trashy attack will be. After 5 to 10 of these attacks, Rove might have really turned off the American voters.

8. It's all they've done
It's all they've ever done. Don't let them get away with this "new strategy" bull. Republicans run smear campaigns, they always have.
