Several donors gave the Obama campaign the maximum individual contribution of $2,300. Others paid as much as $14,000 to have photos taken with Obama.
The money will help the Democratic Party fund the convention in Denver.
"The fact that he's coming back to San Francisco at this stage in the campaign, I think, is a statement about the support he know he has here and the support he wants to give us by being present," San Francisco District Attorney Kamala Harris said.
