“People who make under $80,000 are too stupid to understand taxes anyway.”
What the Hell?! Screw you, McCain.

http://officeofstrategicinfluence.com/blog2/111

Tonight, Rev. Rick Warren held an interview with John McCain and Barack Obama, showing the senators in the same venue for the first time. McCain made clear his ideas between rich and poor, when he said that the line between rich and poor is $5 million a year. Yes, this was a joke, but the average voter understands that this type of thing maybe shouldn’t be joked about when you’re sitting on the microscope’s crucible.

This goes hand-in-hand with a statment McCain said last week at a private get-together. When joking about lopsided tax breaks at dinner, he purportedly justified it by saying, “People who make under $80,000 are too stupid to understand taxes anyway.”

12. WTF? indeed.
Forget about the whole "Why isn't OBAMA doing better" meme. The real question is why hasn't the press seized on statements like that and hounded McBush right out of this race?

29. Whoa
Seems a lot of people are giving it credibility. Not that that makes it any more true.

But it IS on Reddit and Digg.

4. If he really said this and it can be proven, it should be capitalized on because
it is an insult to the vast majority of Americans who are in that income category.

Whenever he says something he thinks is funny, he makes this Beavis-like, wheezy "Heh, heh, heh" noise.

22. Hear! Hear!
I was disgusted at his facetious attitude at the forum. In answer to almost every question, he started with a joke. That is exactly what boosh does. This country doesn't need someone who thinks the day to day problems of the middle class are joke material.

What a fucking asshole. I hate him now more than I did before.

11. He was not on TV for the "too stupid to understand taxes" comment he allegedly made, and so far
I can't find any reliable source for it. Looks more and more like some blogger tossed that out as a smear and it went viral. This is the sort of remark that should have been all over the major news sites' political blogs immediately, if true.

8. I'm trying to find a reliable source for that quote. It seems to be widespread on the Net already,
but I'm not turning it up AT ALL in Google News, which picks up all the major news sites' political blogs.

I'd've expected that to get a lot of attention immediately, on the news sites, if this was an actual quote, and instead it looks like something that went viral online without any reliable source.

I'll keep looking...

10. If there can be a credible source for this then the Dems should play it as much as Obama's "bitter"
comment.

15. We need an audio clip of it.
Someone saying they heard him saying it isn't going to do jack for us... they'll just deny deny deny.

If/when we get that soundbyte, Obama needs to have it in a national commercial.

"HEY AMERICANS! JOHN MCDUMBASS THINKS YOU'RE STUPID AND JOKES ABOUT YOU TO HIS RICH FRIENDS."

God I hate that guy.

17. if a candidate makes an obnoxious comment that isn't on tape, did it make a sound?
I wouldn't be surprised if he said it, but if it isn't on tape, it doesn't count.

If McPain actually said this, then I would be more than happy to sit down with the miserable old lout and take any standardized intelligence test he wants to bring to the table. I'm quite confident that the results will turn out solidly in my favor - and my income, for the record, is less than 1/10 of $80,000.

Too stupid? Oh boy, are you dangerously off-base if you suppose the poor are intellectually impaired, McPain. Some of the smartest people I know are precisely those who tend to have no interest whatsoever in economic status.

I hope he really does think such a wretched thing, and he keeps thinking it. All the better to keep the sort of criticism and commentary that will be the undoing of their greedy machinations off the radar until it's too late.

To hell with these self-satisfied elitist fools. You want "too stupid," McPain? How about you start with your president, George Dumbya, and we'll go from there. A fat wallet does not a genius make, you moran.
