Do you realize how many books McCain has supposedly written?
Edited on Mon Aug-18-08 10:27 AM by cryingshame
I have to ask. Because until recently, I had no idea.

This past Friday I searched Amazon with the word McCain to see how many critical books are out about him. The results show he's supposedly written 5 books.

Faith of My Fathers
Character is Destiny
Hard Call
Worth the Fighting For
Why Courage Matters

Oh, and I think there was a children's book too!

Of course all these books are "co-written" by a fellow named Mark Salter. I have to say it seems kind of like overkill for Salter to use McCain as his claim to fame for THAT many books. Usually politicians that have ghostwriters seem happy to settle for one book.

What does it say about McCain that he allows Salter to use his name and persona like that? IMO, it's a sick relationship that has shades of Rove/Bush to it.

1. He turns to the experts . . .
When he doesn't know how to cut and paste it himself.

Besides, he has to have a cover story for all those nights he comes home late smelling of reporters.

6. What's wrong w/ McCain acknowledging
Edited on Mon Aug-18-08 10:33 AM by supernova
that he uses a ghostwriter and gives the guy credit?

Plenty of famous people "write" books and never admit that some unseen writer wrote it for them.

There's plenty of things to pick on McCain for, but openly using a writer isn't one of them. IMO. As for the number of books, perhaps they both felt they liked working together?

edit: Just to be clear, I think it's infinitely better that Obama wrote his own books himself.

books?

He's a Senator. He has the time to write that many books?

Sorry, it's strange to me.

and all the more reason to give the writer his own byline.

edit: I'm not defending McCain. This setup, you famous - me writer, has been used in the publishing industry for a very long time.

13. I like your Sleepy Hollow signature
:)

it reminded me of what Obama said at that forum, about evil perpetrated in guise of righteousness.

14. Thanks!
That is quite a telling line, and this movie came out 10 years ago. ;-)
