A tale of two Joes: Biden was invited to Georgia by their govt. Lieberman went for McCain.

Clearly when the people of Georgia wanted someone from the states to see first hand what has happened they show more respect for Joe Biden than Joe Lieberman.

I can't wait til 1/20/09 when we can strip Lieberman of all his committee assignments. We used him for 2 years and now he is toast.

DEMOCRATS: Sen. Joe Biden made a trip to Georgia this weekend, at the request of the Georgian government. That came after Sen. Joe Lieberman went as a McCain envoy. Says the Washington Post: “Biden and Obama staffers discussed the proposed trip and Obama officials said they were glad Biden was considering it. One source familiar with the discussions added that had the Obama team opposed the idea, the senator would likely not have gone.”

2. I'm guessing the "McCain Contingent" wasn't invited - just decided to go
to look presidential.

Does anybody know for sure?

It makes sense that they asked Biden in his role as SFRC Chair, but the McCain crew?

3. Did you read after my edit
I forgot to include the MSNBC article. Biden was invited by Georgia. Lieberman was asked to go there by McCain.

5. Ah - nope, only caught the first draft. :-)
I knew Joe was there at Georgia's behest.

I just didn't know if a similar invite was extended to McCain. Not that there's a reason there should have been, but McCain has been talking like he and Saakashvili were in daily communication.

What a weenie thing to do. Tromp over there for political gain.

9. How presumptuous of John McCain.
What's the betting if Obama had sent Susan Rice and a diplomatic group to Georgia that his campaign would be absolutely up in arms right now?

4. When did Lieberman actually go, and why haven't we heard all about
his 'success'? He was in FL with McCrotchity yesterday.

7. That sounds logical and would be a good reason why we haven't
been regaled with their success stories. :eyes:
